Oh no... teething. What to do?

The poor kid - Newborn, without a care in the world. Now he's cutting his first tooth, and hating every minute.

Our son just turned 3 months old, and he is cutting is first tooth. OMG, I forgot how badly this sucks. (Our daughter just turned 4, so it has been a while since we went through this). The drooling, the screaming, the urping up everything we feed him. What kind of tips can you give a stay-at-home dad to cope with a teething son? What tips can you give a teething son to cope with a stressed out pappa?

My daughter is 5. So it has been a while for me too. But I am about to do it again. Second baby due in early December. We had teething rings that went in the freezer. The cold helped to numb some of the pain. Baby Or'ejel also worked wonders. Another trick we used was a wet wash cloth. We let her chew on it after tying in a small knot.Just remember, you will survive it!

We would put a chip of ice in a thin wash cloth and this worked well with my first son. Are you sure it is teething? Are the gums swollen? It just could be colic.Check out first that it really is teething. My son was the primary caregive for twins (boy and girl) it wasn;t easy as he was not at home - in a different country without any family around to help out. They are now with me and I am so proud of what he ddi for his children

Yeah, have used baby orajel, but it doesn't help too much, and I'm afraid he'll swallow his own tongue or something. Frozen veggies is a thought... with our daughter, we used frozen waffles. Maybe I should put a couple carrots in the freezer and see if that helps. I think most of his problem is he swallows a lot of his drool, and it gives him a tummyache/gas. Mylecon (sp?) gas relief drops help a little.
