NBC has been promoting Kath & Kim as one of the funniest shows of all time. I have watched it for the last several weeks & have been sorely disappointed. I'm wondering if I haven't just missed the point. Have you watched Kath & Kim??? If yes, do you like it & can you tell me what I am missing??? If you don't like it, can you tell me why???

I had seen the previews of the show and it seemed so funny and couldn't wait until it aired. Well, it aired and I forgot all about it until I was talking to my daughter and we were talking about some TV shows and that one come up and she said she watched it and was really disappointed in it and didn't plan to watch it any more and told me not to waste my time. She and I like the same things so she knew I would not like it if she didn't. She said if the show had been as funny as the previews then it would have been a hit.

It just dawned on me that I did catch just a little bit of it last week and it was so unfunny that I changed channels.

I'm basically lazy, I hate keeping up with what's on TV & when to change the channel. I like the shows on either side of it. I'm glad to know I'm not the ONLY one who is not finding it that funny!!! Thank you & your daughter for your input!!!

I think I can answer your question, LadyMarissa. I'm an Australian, and Kath & Kim is an Australian show, reliant on a very Australian, self-depracating sense of humour. The writers (and actors) are poking fun at a certain type of Australian, and if you live here and know people like that (as most of us do), it's hilarious! I saw the first episode of the American version, and our humour doesn't translate at all - I just didn't get it. We had two episodes of the American version on our televisions, and then the channel pulled them and are now repeating the original Australian version. The American actors were far too 'attractive' and 'normal' to portray Kath & Kim with their quirky imperfections. You need to see the original version to really appreciate it!

That makes me feel 1,000% better. I usually find the Aussie sense of humor charming. I guess with the Americanization of the show & the characters, it just plain got lost in translation!!!

i don't watch it since it is not aired in my country. What is it all about? Is it a drama or a comedy? © ronaldinu 2008

If you are talking about the new US version of this show then I haven't seen it yet and have also heard some megative reviews about it. I have always watched the original series back in Australia and found it absolutely hilarious. When I heard that they had sold the rights for the US market and were redoing it for local audiences I was really intrigued to know how they would change it because Aussie humour is VERY different and not always understood or appreciated elsewhere. I am going to have to try to find some episodes so I can see for myself once and for all!

That makes me feel better. I sure hope they revamped it toward American humor. If they did, they've done a lousy job at it. I tend to laugh at things nobody else does. However, the humor here seems to escape me. Probably time for me to quit watching it. I just didn't want to tell others not to watch it if it's just me!!!

I have not seen that show, but if you do not like the show's humor it will not matter if nbc's own critics think it is the best out there, it is just not for you.

The previews were so freakin funny, I just keep thinking I'm missing something. Plus it comes on in between 2 shows I enjoy & I don't want to change the channel. I was thinking about writing NBC to complain but if it's my sense of humor that's the problem, then I shouldn't complain to them.
