Vista being newer OS is obviously better in terms of security and features but when it comes to pure speed then hands down for XP..

Hye dear first of all both are good but if you have a system with good configuration like 2 gbs of ram than go for vista its very good and there are lots of new feature and also vista is improving time to time and according to me now days vista is at its best Microsoft have solved the problems of vista when it was arrived on the other hand if you don't have a better configured pc then go for xp its more user friendly then vista.

I have heard a lot of good and bad things about Windows XP and Windows Vista and when it comes to Windows my parents have always had Windows XP on their desktop and me and my fiance have Windows XP on our laptop,we are really happy with Windows XP as it is a really good system with very few problems, and one of our friends was telling us about Windows Vista and they said it can be more trouble than it is worth because it is a lot to figure out,and it can be very complicated, and that it is not the best.

I am currently an XP and Vista user. Of course XP is better when it comes to compatibility with software as well as hardware. Since it has been released several years ago, it had already matured. Another advantage of XP is it does not eat up a lot of your computer's resources. As far as Vista is concerned, you really need a good machine. Lots of RAM since Vista is a resource hog operating system. The good thing in Vista is its interface, more developed graphics with its Aero capability. In my opinion, if you don't have any compatibility issues on Vista, much better to use it since it would soon be the next to XP. Hopefully it would soon mature as what happened to XP.

it's really hard to tell since both operating system has it's pros & cons and besides i'm a user of both xp & vista. both operating system shared & experienced worst scenarios wherein the 1st time they were launched it has bugs & the system itself is not perfect. although yes it still has flaws since no software & hardware in the IT indusrty is perfect per se. since xp has been in the computer world for more than 4 years now it has been the most used operating system for microsoft users. it is a friendly OS since it would cater to any age bracket because of it's presentation in the package alone. simple icons, easy troubleshooting steps, low system requirements for the computer. and because of this factors & other more, it has been widely used. when vista was launched it was hated by most users because some softwares didn't work, the graphics, icons, the presentation is a whole lot different form that of xp. and other than that vista's system requirements is high so we cannot install it easily on a low grade computer. if an xp user would switch from xp to vista, it would be a whole new point of view along with differences to compare with. going back on your question, although i'm both xp &vista user i would prefer Vista over XP. why? not only because my computer is vista but also because i have learned to love it & have learned how to use it. it's not that easy at first but then vista compared to xp is a whole lot better.
