It was suggested to me that I make mini loaves of bread to sell as well as my muffins, cookies, candies and other items. I was thinking of banana nut bread, pumpkin bread, and zucchini bread. I have no idea what to charge for them though. I am planning on making them in those little disposable aluminum pans. What is a good price for something like that? Any ideas? What other kinds of mini loaves would be good?

Hi Lilybug, Glad to find you today. Pumpkin and Banana Breads ar good because they are moist and have a longer shelf life. Do a costing of all items used in making these breads and remember to include money for electricity for cooking etc. Until ou've costed you cannot get an idea on pricing. Am delivering my first ordered gift basket this coming Saturday. Not much of a profit (US$12) but I want to get this tourist company's orders regularly. Say a prayer for me!

THANK YOU lILYBUG FOR YOUR BEST WISHES. I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS NEW VENTURE AND YOU WERE THE ONE ALONG WITH RAZ WHO GAVE ME ADVICE AND ENCOURAGEMENT. GUESS WHAT? I HAVE RECEIVED FOUR MORE ORDERS FOR NEXT MONTH. i SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE MORE MONEY OF THESE ORDERS AS THEY ARE AT A HIGHER COST. THE TOURIST SEASON IS SO BAD BECAUSE OF THE RECESSION IN THE STATES. IT HAS NOW AFFECTED US HERE IN JAMAICA. SO I AM BLESSED TO BE ABLE TO EARN THE EXTRA MONEY WITH THIS NEW VENTURE. KEEP ON BAKING AND REMEMBER THAT PRESENTATION IS EVERYTHING. GOOD LUCK!

Good grief! Is your oven melting down yet? The choices sound wonderful. Especially the pumpkin bread. Might add a cranberry loaf to the list. I went and looked at my mini pan. Maybe $1.75 a piece. That should be good. Unless it is a larger MINI loaf.

NO, my oven is not melting or screaming for mercy just yet. That will be later on closer to Christmas. If it is a mini loaf pan with like 8 wells then these are about twice that size.

zucchini bread - I love zucchini bread.
I love banana nut bread and zucchini bread. I haven't had that in a long time. What do you charge for your other stuff??

Locally the cookies go for $.65 a piece, muffins are $1.25, toffee is $1.25 for a small bag. I have the toffee listed on eBay for a very cheap price of $7 a pound or $13.75 for 2 pounds. As a request I even listed a 5 pound batch. I have sold 3 of those already.

I love zucchini bread. Whenever we go to the Poconos, there is a farmer's market I like to go to. There is an Amish family that sells all types of bread, that is the only place I have ever bought zucchini bread. For a small loaf pan they charge $3.50, a larger loaf is about $6.50. I think between $3.50 and $4.00, would be a good price. Consider the time and effort as well as your expense. I think that is a fair price.

A mini loaf should sell for about $2, a small loaf $4-5, a full loaf $7-9.
