Do you type REALLY fast?

I know a lot of people use the keyboard the way you're supposed to, where the fingers line up and each finger uses specific keys. Then there's a lot of people who use the one or two finger methods. I have seen people type quickly using each method. Me, I'm a full hand typer, I put my fingers lined up on the middle row and all the fingers go to the "proper" keys (most of the time). I learned to type in college, I only took one class. I did "OK" because I didn't really use it much. Then when I got online about 12 years or so ago I started chatting and that's when my typing REALLY took off! My husband uses just a couple fingers to type and he has to find each key - why I have no clue, they don't move, they're always in the same place! It takes him FOREVER to type something. I've also seen people who use only a finger or two, but are almost as fast as me! So which one are you? Do you use all the fingers or just a couple??? Are you quick or slow??

I took typing when I was in high school & I've been typing since. I don't think I'm really that fast. I can only average around high 50's to low 60 words per minute, 57 - 64 words per minute. I know this one person who was clocked at 127 words per minute. Her fingers were so fast they where almost invisible, lol.

LOL, yeah, I know! And you know those computers that are somewhat slower than others? Sometimes those typing softwares have hard time keeping up with her. I've seen her type this one email & it took good 2 seconds after she was done typing that the screen caught up to her.

hi reinydawn.. lol interesting topic..im not a 10 fingers typer tho, maybe just 8 fingers lol but i do type fast. i tested it using the Kiran Typer Tutorial, and i result 44,4 word per minute with 300 key per minute. it was actually because i first found a game software, Typer Shark from PopCap.com, it was a good game n challenging. well, not every1 has a skill for that reinydawn. sometimes it does need a tallent or just a good intensive practise to reach that level. so, as long as each person can type enough, its already ok =)

I think I type pretty fast too. I am also a full hand typer, I put all my fingers on the keyboard properly. Actually how I came to type fast is through practising. I used to like chatting online with friends a lot, and my typing speed keeps improving by that.

I got me an electric typewriter at a garage sale one time and I went to the library and got me a book to teach myself how to type. I did take typing for a 1/2 semester in junior high school but was not really into learning how then. I do use both hands and place my hands on the keys the "proper" way. I type pretty fast. My grandson types using the 2 finger method and he is soooo fast with his typing. He amazes me. My daughter and I are wondering when he does get old enough to take typing if he will be able to learn or will just continue the way he is now. I do think he probably types faster than I do now and he just turned 11. My husband is a two finger typer and he is sloooooow.

I hope your grandson learns to type using all fingers. Although he's fast, it might slow down as other distractions come along. It is funny watching a 2-finger typer go fast though, isn't it?!

He just amazes me when he is typing. When he was here this summer I went into the bedroom where the computer is and he hadn't even turned on the lamp yet and the only light he had was from the comp and he was not even looking at the keyboard and going so fast. I did look and he didn't make not one mistake.

i dont really type fast but I'm on the process of practicing it. I want to master typing using the right method. I am used at using my 2 middle fingers in typing because i find it more convenient and more faster.

Quite a few people learned to type with just a couple fingers. I wish you luck in picking it up the right way quickly. With some practice, you should do fine!

I use mainly my pointer and middle finger to type. I don't use the home keys though to type. It is funny i am very good at typing and very fast but when i try to use the home keys i just mess up and it looks like i never typed a day in my life! I know that is how they tried to teach us in like elementary school and i was just horrible at it. I just type away with out thinking about how to type or the correct wya to type and it works out for me. I never look at the key board when i type seems like i do better with out looking at the key board and i hardly ever look at the monitor when i type either i am to busy talking to someone else or watching TV or doing just what ever else that doesn't have me looking at the monitor and i make very little to no typing errors and i ended up teaching my self how to type by talking to people on line mainly and by coming on sites like this Ive been typing since like middle school now and I'm 20 and i am really good at it. I need to find a job where i can just sit there and type all day its what I'm good at!

I don't look at the keys either - although I do use all fingers on the home row. I find that I type better if I look at the monitor or something else, but it's hard for me to copy a paper or something while looking at the form. I always mess up if I do it that way.

I don't know how many words I type a minute. I just know that people do say I type fast. It's easy for me, and I use all my fingers where they should be.

I use both hands, and I don't have to see the keys either. I am a pretty fast typer, my typing at least stands a chance of keeping up with my creative thinking when I write books! I never went to a class or anything, so I don't know what the proper keys are or anything, though. I pretty much taught myself. Only took a few times online to elarn how to type, and just a couple weeks more to get used to it.

My fingers can almost keep up with my brain. I do find that sometimes my brain is way ahead of the fingers and my sentences make no sense.

my typing speed no matter how i do it is about 26 to 30 wpm. I am just not that fast. But as long as I can type and get my point across I guess it doesnt matter how fast i type. I do hate typos though and am one to do many of those.

Typos drive me batty. Sometimes my fingers are just too fast and get the wrong order for the letters. But that's what the backspace key is for, right???

I use all my fingers when I type, and I can say that I type fast, but not without mistakes, I don't know how many times I've had to use the backspace bar, I learned to type in high school, but I went for years without typing until I got a computer, then I had to relearn it. My husband is the two fingers kind, at first it took him along time to type something, he would ask me to come and type it for him, but since he's been using the computer, he's getting good at it, he's almost as fast as me now...haha.

My husband has no desire to learn to type fast or with all fingers. He just does a few e-mails and stuff, but if it's anyting more he'll ask me to do it.

Very fast! So fast infact that the keyboard starts smoking! I always make sure my fingers find those home keys and then I'm typing away like there's no tomorrow. I think that typing skills are essential for today's environment with the Internet and so forth. I learnt my touchtyping skills at the age of sixteen, I went to this business administration centre and I'm really glad that I did this. Anyway, there are lots of free programs on the net that allow you to hone your typing skills. I practice constantly so that I won't become rusty! I think you need to take a rest from the keyboard when you do a lot of typing as you find that your fingers start to ache, at least mind do! Anyway, I find it much easier to write letters and as a result of my typing ability, my friends sometimes ask me to type letters for them. Andrew

Yes, it is essential to be able to type in todays world. I'm glad you're quick, that way you can type a lot and only take a short time to do it :)

Ive been tyting for a long time but wouldnt say Im really fast. I dont type in the conventional way and use only 4 fingers usually. I have tried typing with all fingers but it takes a while to learn and be fast at it. Plus I find it easier typing with 3/4 fingers, the only problem is spelling mistakes are pretty frequent.

I am pretty fast. I learned to type in High School, and I received an award for my typing skills. My boyfriend also does the 2 finger typing, but he gets the job done, so I guess whatever works for you, right? I cant imagine typing with just 2 fingers. Once you know where all the keys are typing is simple. I guess it's just about how much time you want to put in to learn.

I don't really understand the 2 finger typing either. They keys are always in the same place, so it's easier to use all the fingers.

No I don't type fast. I think I am an average typist. If I typed faster, I may get more mylotting done. Working from home would be more of a breeze too.

No my typing is slow but I think with a bit more practice it will become faster I only type with one finger hehe so that might be why my typing is so slow.

Yes, the practice will help. Try getting used to using all your fingers if you can. That makes it easier to not look at the keys once you've learned them all.

My typing is in between no fast and not slow. I took typing classes and I start off with my fingers on the homerow keys and in about 2 sec they are all over the place. I guess because I know where the keys are that helps a lot.

hi. I use all my fingers in typing. I did not undergo any typing lessons. I learned it in College where there are so much papers of pass to make it for graduation. If you ask me which letter will be typed by a particular finger, I can't answer you. But once my fingers are already set at the keyboard, as if they have their own minds. So far I can type 40-42 words per minute. I do not know if that seems fast to you. happy myLotting.

That's pretty good for just a couple fingers! I've always used all my fingers so I don't know how to just use a few (unless I'm eating or something, but then I'm not very fast).
