Well, when i woke up this morning, i turned on the radio and this oldie song was played: My eyes adored you Though I never laid a hand on you, My eyes adored you Like a million miles away from me you couldn't see How I adored you: So close, so close and yet so far away Carried your books from school, Playing make-believe you're married to me: You were fifth grade, I was sixth When we came to be Walking home every day over Barnegat Bridge and Bay, Till we grew into the me and you Who went our separate ways My eyes adored you Though I never laid a hand on you, My eyes adored you Like a million miles away from me you couldn't see How I adored you: So close, so close and yet so far Headed for city lights, Climbed the ladder up to fortune and fame, I worked my fingers to the bone, Made myself a name. Funny, I seem to find that, no matter how the years unwind, Still I reminisce about the girI miss And the love I left behind... My eyes adored you Though I never laid a hand on you, My eyes adored you Like a million miles away from me you couldn't see How I adored you: So close, so close and yet so far All my life I will remember how warm and tender We were way back then Though I'm feeling sad regrets I know I won't ever forget You, my childhood friend My eyes adored you Though I never laid a hand on you, My eyes adored you Like a million miles away from me you couldn't see How I adored you: So close, so close and yet so far Heehee. I dont know who sang it originally, but it was revived by one of our local singers here. I like it, easy to listen to. I'm a modern kid with a rather retro heart, i appreciate retro music. Maybe coz i was influenced by my mom (i grew up listening to the Beegees and Bread with my mom LOL). Although i can appreciate all kinds of music, there are times that i prefer the mellow, easy music of the '70s. Hehehehehe. How 'bout you guys? Any "oldies but goodies" songs that you like? Come and share them here.

My musical taste is generally heavy rock and metal although i do like a bit of everything from time to time! there are loads of songs from the 80s that remind me of being young and with my parents, one of my favourites is baker street by gerry rafferty, i love the saxophone in it!! I love a bit of retro!! lol xxx

As I recall it was sang by frankie Valli..lol you got me singing there. It is indeed a very good song. I like old songs like this one. Really touches my heart. I like this old time song by Frank Sinatra it's called The Way You Look Tonight. Hope you like it too. Some day, when I'm awfully low, When the world is cold, I will feel a glow just thinking of you... And the way you look tonight. Yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm And your cheeks so soft, There is nothing for me but to love you, And the way you look tonight. With each word your tenderness grows, Tearing my fear apart... And that laugh that wrinkles your nose, It touches my foolish heart. Lovely ... Never, ever change. Keep that breathless charm. Won't you please arrange it ? 'Cause I love you ... Just the way you look tonight. Mm, Mm, Mm, Mm, Just the way you look to-night.

I like all kinds of music...including classical I grew up in the 70's as well and listened to a lot of soft rock, easy listening and motown music. Even now I like to pop in a CD and go back to those days. I have noticed alot of the oldies are being used now for commercials LOL ~~IN SEARCH OF PEACE WITHIN~~ **AGAINST THE STORMS, I WILL STAND STRONG**

Oh I still can remember that song! It's a nice song but the old songs that I really love are really old. In fact older than I am. I don't know. I love old, old songs! Even the voices of the old singers could really touch my heart. I have one particular favorite. It was a song by Dean Martin entitled "The Things we did Last Summer". The lyrics are here: The boat rides we would take, the moonlight on the lake The way we danced and hummed our fav'rite song The things we did last summer I'll remember all winter long The midway and the fun, the kewpie dolls we won The bell I rang to prove that I was strong The things we did last summer I'll remember all winter long The early morning hike, the rented tandem bike The lunches that we used to pack We never could explain that sudden summer rain The looks we got when we got back The leaves began to fade like promises we made How could a love that seemed so right go wrong? The things we did last summer I'll remember all winter long I've tried so to forget, at times I do, and yet The mem'ry of you lingers like our song The things we did last summer, I'll remember all winter long

I am sorry I do not know this song, but I will look on the internet for it. I like 'day dream believer' and I like 'you win again by the Beegees' I like a lot of music from all the decades actually. Your song is getting to me. I will look it up now. Is it Frankie Valli? I think I know it now. Yes really good song.

This one of my favorite songs, it was used in the movie DEER HUNTER, also one of my favorite movies. Don't you think music back rhn had some meaning to it. I can tolerate most music, ecept whenit come to this rap and loud screaming stuff. I love the old songs and have several discs that are oldies but goodies. When I hear one of them playing I can go back in my mind to where I was when it used to be popular, some good memories some not. I would rather listen to the old stuff any day. Same with the old shows that was on TV in the 50's and sixty's.

The song that does this for me is " OH MY PAPA. " I hear it from time to time on the radio here in Trinidad and it brings tears to my eyes. My father used to sing this song and I first heard it when I was a young boy. Its a lovely oldie and goldie, yes, indeed, a great song.

Hi there, i agree to it, old songs are the melodies which are evergreen and you can hear them and feel good at any point of time...I love old songs as they lift my mood and feel relaxed...Nowadays i feel the songs in jazz style actually lose the melody in lyrics and music as well, which could be felt deeply in the oldies...

I personally love the oldies it was a time when we could talk about life in a song with out all of the cussing and violence. The songs back then touched your heart the songs now have no heart. Like, rap wih all the cussing and violence. I hate it. But, my favorite oldie is "Crocodile Rock". I use to teach my kids to dance to that one in the frontroom. We still dance in the house on rainy days to oldies.
