Attempting NaNo this year?

LIke every year the idea of NaNoWriMo being right around the corner both scared the hell out of me and excites me to no end. Even though I never actually join the challange with a strong motivation (I always let my life get in a way what with work, school, family and second job), nonetheless I always start writing more during November. This year I decided to devote all my attention to writing articles. Instead of a novel. I'm having this big masterplan how I"ll write an article a day which should get me 15000 words. Yeah. Nowhere near 50000 set by the NaNO people. But that's my goal this year. Will probably end up adding some wordcount to my novels in progress as well... Just because they are my babies SO that's me. What about you? Are you planning on joining NaNo this year? Why? Or if not... why not? And what are you planning on writing? Do tell I love listening about other people's creativity :D

I always encourage writing, so even if you know you won't be able to meet 50000 words set a smaller goal for yourself. There's no point in writing if it doesn't bring you joy :) Thanks for your response :)

I wish you much success with your novels and articles. I only recently heard of NaNoWriMo and I don't know if it's national to the USA or international, but anyway I'm not a novelist. I don't know how many words I've written so far this year, I do know I've produced more than a hundred articles, I've made just under one hundred blog posts, I've added 3600 discussion posts at myLot, and I've written a number of paid assignments and reviews. I am planning to do more freelance writing. This means I shall be writing more blog posts and submitting more assignments, as well as writing regular articles. I hope I will still have some time for posting at myLot! Fortunately, I enjoy writing every day and have become used to it over the past six months. I'm also pleased with the amount of money I have earned so far, and that is good enough motivation for me to continue and to expand my writing activities.

I am going to attempt it again this year, but I am not going to win. I got a couple of heavy research papers due on the 18th (and I am nowhere close to done with them), so that is going to chew up a lot of writing time. Last year, the word count of my research papers ended up being the amount of words that I missed the goal by. Ahh, the joys of being a writer in college.

About three weeks ago, I decided I'm going to do NaNoWriMo this year. And follow it through to the end. But since it's starting today and I haven't an idea in my head, I don't know.

Stay possitive! Believe in yourself and just write whatever your muse brings you. You can try various writer's block techniques if you're having problems :) You can do it! Thanks for your response :)
