Well here in Minnesota we are having a beautiful Indian Summer day. It is going to be near 70 F. It is very sunny with a nice warm breeze and the skies are a clear bright blue. I also have a few coneflowers still in bloom. Even after a few days of below freezing temperatures. They look so nice in the sunshine. I planted them really late and never expected a bloom this year yet alone this late in the season. So do you know how long coneflowers bllom until? Are they a fall bloomer or late summer bloomer? Are they an invasive plant as well? I know nothing about them other than they are very pretty in my small garden with my grape vine. Thanks all. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I do not know much about them, but my dad has some and he has moved them around his flowerbeds and stuff. I think they bloom all season. I am grateful for anything that keeps on blooming. My geraniums are still doing their job, they are in a sheltered area. I hope someone else can help you.

I don't think they bloom all year. Not here with 20 below zero temps often. I had 2 final flowers on my Phloxx today as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

What I meant by all season was like spring through fall, I am tired and did not explain that well. They just are not too picky until you start having lots of snow and cold. Lots of it.

We are having a nice spring day too. Last night it got cold down in the 20's. The sunshine is a welcome site. As for your question about the flowers, I don't know.

Bummer. The Framers Almanac is predicting a colder and snowier winter for Minnesota this year. That's kewl by me as we have not had a bad winter in ages it seems. Bring on the snow and cold. Of course I'll whine about it here I am sure when it happens. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I would love to have some coneflowers, because some are used for their medicial purposes, that is where Echinacea comes from..Don't know if they are invasive, but here is what one site has to say about them: http://gardening.about.com/od/plantprofile1/p/Echinacea.htm

We had beautiful weather as well at that time but it is now cold in the 40's during the days so it is a bit nippy out now. Going to miss those warmer days now.

I have never heard of these until now. Very pretty flowers I must say. I found this information on them. To encourage more flowers, deadheaded your coneflower plants regularly. You can also try shearing the plants back by half or two-thirds their height in early summer to encourage bushier growth and more profuse flowering later in the season. Coneflower seed-heads are a favorite food of migrating and overwintering birds. If you leave the spent flower-heads in place in late fall, you will find that they are very good at attracting birds to your yard. I'm going to have to get me some of these. Thanks for sharing!
