How has the economy effected you?

I've done a lot of thinking about the economy and how it is effecting my family and truth be told we are in deep crap! Food is so high it is hard to afford it on top of the bills for the house!
Our household bills are $1600! Only 1 person working a 40 hour week job. It's very hard on us at this moment and I cry a lot now because I just don't see us making it.
I'm nervous we will be thrown out of our home we just got in 4 months ago! I'm scared of starving too. I checked and to get food stamps my hubby makes too much money! Is there anything that can be done to help not only my family, but other's as well in this situation?
All the help has been for the banks, etc, what about the people effected by this are they going to do anything to help?

My husband's job has cut back to almost part-time hours, so we have a lot less money to pay even higher bills.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I just found out today my hubby's work is ending overtime, so they are only going to have 40 hour weeks now. That cuts out over $100 a week from his check. :(

I am from India and we too are effected by present economic crisis.For a middle class person it is very difficult to run the life.The price of the product is increasing day by day.If this process continues then it is very difficult to survive.

I agree with you totally. Something needs to be done and soon or people will be on the street with no place to live or anything to eat.

The economy has really affected us. We have had to cut back on alot of things and work more hours, seven days a week.

I am planning to look for a job to help also with our finances and at the same time so we can save, this time only hubby is working and we are trying not to go out often to save!
I am sure a lot of people are seeking for second job so to live comfortably in life, hopefully,t his crisis will be given an attention and will not get into more worst situation![/i]

I hope so too....I told my hubby that his work needs to hand out another pay raise. Last one they got was after Hurricane Katrina 3 years ago! Things were bad then and they are getting worse now.

Hi icy, I really wish I could help you as you know I am on benefits and my son gives me rent in all I get $1200 (£600) and to get my bills paid is a nightmare! it scares me silly how much they are costing me, fortunatley my water rates are being paid by my benefit department its the gas and electricity that worry's me the most..then as for food well that is buy as it is needed and what I can afford..if there was any help the government should supply it everything is so sky high..it will be interesting see what other mylotters have to say on this...blessings littleowl
