I've been away for four days!

Most of you know now that my Parents sold the family farm and purchased the home of my childhood that they sold twenty-two years ago! Well, the move occurred on the week-end and so that is where I have been but I am back now! It was quite the week-end I must say! I went on the bus on Thursday morning (After majorly sleeping in and only having half an hour to get out of my apartment so no shower ) and had lunch with my parents...A sub from the local sub shop! We had a lot of business to do that day...The Lawyers Office, The Bank, The Insurance Broker, The Real Estate Office and Mom had to be to work for 3PM Once we got Mom to work we went back to the farm and I asked Dad for boxes so that I could finish packing the kitchen....Only, there were just two boxes left and I couldn't get all that was left of the kitchen into those boxes so I had to just fill them and stop, waiting until we went to get Mom from work to get more boxes! Late at night when we got Mom home from work and had the boxes...Mom and I packed up a few more boxes and then we went to bed...The last night in the old farm house... The next Morning we finished and taped up boxes. We were ready to go for Noon when my Dad called the lawyer to get the go ahead and found Money had not changed hands yet...It was a long drawn out process and it wasn't finalized until 3:45!!!! We had approximately fifteen people waiting around from about 11AM to help us move and now we still had to go into town to get the check and run it to the bank before closing hours! By the time we got back we had a bite to eat at the farm house (Sandwiches and soup left over from the noon-time meal) and then loaded up my Dad's truck and off we went up to the house. The other vehicles had already been loaded while we had been waiting all afternoon. The move went smoothly once we were actually able to move! Two trips with all of the vehicles and about two and half hours later we were in the house with nothing unpacked but we were in! Once everyone left then we went back alone to get the dog out of the building he had been in and one more walk through the house. It was after 9PM by the time we were actually in the house for the night! What a day! I spent two nights in my childhood room and it was really nice to be back there I must say! I was there long enough to help my Mom set up the kitchen and unpack all the china and put it in the cabinet and set up and decorate the living room putting up some pictures etc. I was also able to unpack the linens and organize her linen closet and so that was a big help to them! Now Mom and Dad will be working on the bathroom and the rec room downstairs. I can't wait for New Years when we will be going there!! I really didn't want to leave Sorry I do not have a picture of the house but I forgot to take my camera with me... When Mom and Dad paint in the spring then I will get a picture and post it for you all! So, what were all you guys up to while I was gone!?! I hope you all had a wonderful week-end, please share it with me or any of your moving experiences as well if you like! ~Heavens~

Glad to hear that everything worked out for your parents. I hate moving, but a couple years ago when we got an offer on this house, we had 2 weeks to move, so I boxed up only things that we didn't need, because I thought we were moving into this small apartment until we find a better home..But it didn't work out, and we still have stuff in storage, But, we finally got everything out of there that mice may ruin..It took my daughter and I 3-4 trips, but this was using a Grand Am to move these things..I still don't have my furniture, like my china cabinet or bookcases, but thankfully I have my books, so not more ruined books.. As for what I did this weekend, I did go see Fireproof on Friday night..It got us away from all the Halloween stuff and it was a great movie..But if you go see it, bring tissues, even if you don't easily cry, it never hurts to be prepared, I wasn't..

Yes, it worked out for us but the waiting was terrible! We could have been all moved and half unpacked by night time but instead we only just got in and the beds set up and made and that was all for the day until morning! I'm just impressed with how much we did accomplish in the short time I was home! I haven't heard of Fireproof but I'll keep the tissues in mind, I would be the one that would need them! ~Heavens~

Yes, when it comes to moving, it never turns out the way you plan it, but I am glad it did turn out for you..:) As for the movie Fireproof, it starts Kirk Cameron, who played the older boy in I believe was called, "Growing Pains" and he did his part really well..And they even have the book that is used in this movie, only 9.95, but they don't take paypal which I am glad I came to this discussion, because I wanted to see if ebay has that book and that I might be able to get it with paypal.. And yes, if you know that you can get emotional easily, grab those tissues, and your husband, for this movie is about a couple who are struggling, but have a happy ending..:)

Hi heavens, Welcome back! I'm relieved right along with you, that your parent's move has been accomplished at long last. I'm not surprised about the delay, as most moves I've been involved in, have had a lot of last minute 'red tape.' It's great that you still feel at home, in the house you grew up in. Most of us never get the chance to experience being able to go back like this. We ended up having quite a busy weekend, as my daughter booked the Friday night off of work, so she could actually do something for once. She was able to get her 7:00 a.m. Saturday shift changed to 11:30, thanks to the kindness of one of the managers. Yes, there are a few decent bosses in the place. She ended up having 'five' friends sleep over, and they had a great time. Only one of them was picked up before she left for work, so I had four of them still here until around 1:00. I didn't really mind though. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to catch up ASAP. I believe you're off on Wed., and Friday. Wednesday is my 'late babysitting night,' and Friday is my daughter's commencement in the afternoon, so I'll be attending that. Take care. Love and Hugs to you.

I got one of your days off mixed up, but such is my mind these days. As you now know, it's not her high school graduation commencement (that's next November), but just her grade eleven one. By the way, I hate the way her school does their graduation, as they don't have it in June, but wait until November when some of the kids are already gone away to school. Many don't even come back to attend. Ridiculous! That's my mini rant here for the day.

My days off are Wednesday and Saturday... I wish I did not have to work on Friday afternoon...I had no idea your daughters commencement would be so early in the year! This makes me very sad to be missing that! ~Heavens~
