I can't wait to hold my puppy

I contacted my breeder a week ago. She said that she has a decent puppy for me but I have to wait to get vaccines, microchip and all the sort. There is a certain protocol that needs to be respected before a puppy is sent to my country. The pup then has to do 21 days in quarantine. So I calculate roughly that I can hold my puppy at around mid January. It's a really long wait. I cant wait to hold my puppy.

Hi ronaldinu, congratulations to you on getting a new puppy soon. You even bought the puppy from another country? It's really quite a long time to wait, but it's good to let the puppy get vaccines first. Hope to see more pictures of your lovely puppy soon.

What kind of dog are you getting? I don't like having to hold a puppy in quarantine, we breed German Hunting Dogs and this one lady was wanting a dog from us, but she lived in a different country, we checked everything out on what we would have to do to ship it to her, and they would have to hold the puppy in quarantine for 3 mos. or something like that and we didn't want to do that. We told her to try to find someone else in her area that breeds those kinds of puppies because we didn't want to have to do that to the poor thing. It would of been about 6 mos.old already when she got it, and it wouldn't know her, I don't know if theres someone that goes in and plays with them, if they get any kind of human contact. I wouldn't want to wait that long if I were you, but hopefully it will be worth it for you and the puppy.

Congratulations, hope the time goes by quickly. But why do you have to get a puppy from outside your country?

Oh, how wonderful!! Where is the puppy coming from and what type of dog? I love dogs and I miss the ones we had but we cannot have one right now as our life is too hectic for one. We have one cat left, right now, but they are more self serving. Have you picked a name or will you wait until you see it?

Congratulations on your new puppy! I'll bet you can hardly wait to hold the little furangel! May you have many pleasant years with the little ball of fur. Pets are such a blessing to have. I feel the same way about my cat. She is an extremely affectionate furangel. More so than most cats. I just love cuddling with her on the couch as I'm watching T.V. or online. She is my mainstay. Keep us posted as to when you get your puppy and what you named it. Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

Hi there ronaldinu That's great, I am sure you will find that the time will pass quite quickly. We only had to wait 6 weeks before we got our gineapigs but it sure was a long time to my son. Actually it was longer than that because we were waiting for the female to get pregnant then had to wait for her to have them. I think my son found it really agonising, he doesn't do waiting very well!

Aww, what kind are you getting? I wanted a puppy all my life and when I was 10 we got one. Now he doesn't really like me as much as he used to, and he loves my mom more, but he really is a great little dude.

eyy congratulations! I have a 5-month old puppy myself. She's so intelligent and so adorable, but sometimes she can be annoying. She's a mixed breed. Her facial profile is clearly a Labrador Retriever but her colors are something else. yeah, she's quite smaller than a 5-month old retriever but she's just as strong. She can knock people off their feet when she slams herself on them. Just wait out, Ronald. It's worth it. When you get your pup she's had all her shots complete and all you have to worry about is taking care of her.

Hi, Can't you adopt a puppy in your own country? Why does this pup have to go through all that process. Vaccines are fine. They are necessary. But quarantine for so many days? It makes no sense. Its like leaving a child all by itself for so long. What happens during that time, you will never know.

Hi Ronaldinu, It is a shame that you cannot get a puppy from your own country and being flown or shipped to another country I should imagine must be quite distressing for a young pup. First vaccinations are at eight weeks then 10 weeks, can't go out for at least 10 days after that, then travel time and then quarantine time. I estimate your puppy will nearly four months old by then. You say in your discussion 'my breeder', have you used before, how reputable as in the UK recently there has been a lot of puppy scams. I don't want to put a downer on but just pointing out some facts. It is what happens in the puppies 11th week that can make a big difference on their character and how they are and timing wise it will be unloved in quarantine or on a flight then. Please take all this into consideration before purchasing. Shelties are lovely, I have a bordie collie at the moment but did used to have a rough one which is the larger version of a sheltie really. I hope January does arrive quickly for you and that you enjoy your new puppy. Huggles. Ellie :D

So you are importing your puppy. I didn't know it has to go through that long process. But that process looks really sensible. Thanks for posting at least I am no longer ignorant on this subject. I hope you get your puppy soon! Cheers!

Hi ronaldinu! I bet you can't wait! What kind of puppy are you getting again? I forgot! I know you told us the breed and I know it is really cute. And is it a boy or a girl? Have you picked out a name? I name my cats before I get them. They have to fit their names, the poor things! My cats that I have now are Star & Luna! The have girls names and are boys! I just liked the names and I knew that I was getting boys, because that's what I wanted but I knew I wanted to name them those names so that's what I did! Star is an all black cat and his name fits him! Luna is a black and white kitty and I think he likes his name although he really looks like a girl! He's a really pretty cat and everyone thinks he's a girl! Poor Luna! You are going to be so happy when the puppy comes! Too bad you won't have it for Christmas, but at least you have lots of time to prepare! So you can buy it lots of toys before it gets here!
