my 4 year old son studying in preschool, every time the teacher ask them to write and trace something to do, he really hate to do that. Sometime he cries, and want to go home. He only love to colors and draw but he don't want to write letters and numbers. I really don't know what to do.

Buy him white board and marker pens of different colors. Let him have fun writing on it. Soon he would develop interest in writing with pencil. Pencils are hard for kids and that may be the reason he dislikes it.

Like you, I also have a 4-year-old daughter attending preschool and her handwriting is really bad; but, I don't force her to write within the lines. A 4-year-old has not developed his/her fine motor skills which is required in writing. Why don't you try to use big crayons and big pencils; so that your son would be comfortable in gripping his pencil.

My parents were very stricted to me in school and when I did not do what the teacher asked I got punished. It has traumatized me and I hate writings and printing today and only do it for necesarry things. I find encouragment is the best make it fun and exciting so he enjoys doing it and doesnt feel as if it is a chore.
