Have you ever brushed your teeth with anything other than toothpaste? I woke up this morning, still in a dream , and started brushing my teeth. Thought that the toothpaste had a funny taste, maybe gone bad...when I took another look, I had used my facial cleanser - it was in a tube form, just next to my toothpaste! Yukks ! Has this happened to you before?

i almost ... ALMOST once used my husbands shaving gel, because it to was similar to the toothpaste tub and i was totally groggy and unaware of much of anything... =P 3 hours of sleep does that to a person... and interrupted as well... eh... what did i expect? I paid attention only because it was slippery... and it felt metallic.. im still sorta groggy.. looking at it through blurry eyes i saw the color was not the same... i did a double take =P Lets just say my husband now uses the canister ones now lol...

Shaving gel - now I wonder how does that taste like? Maybe I should change my facial cleanser to the bottled ones. Thanks for sharing and have a good day!

i didn't tried other products for brushing teeth, but in india we have some tooth powder to brush teeth, so that one i used in my childhood days once or twice . and in india many days back people here used charchoal powder for brushing teeth ,and some of my relatives in my childhood days, used one tree's(we call neem tree) thin small stem(with out leaves) .they chew that thin stem for 5 to ten minutes and with it the teeth will become too white and tooth will also be stong also with that tree stem .this is old remedy in india for getting good and strong teeth. try it if u want.

Hi Ank, this is interesting! They should add these natural ingredients to our toothpaste, rather than all those chemical stuff. Are you using these tooth powder or neem tree?

Usually i mistake my toothpaste with that of my facial soap . I have stopped buying facial soap in a tube form too because I mistook it quite a number of times. © ronaldinu 2008

Yup, terrible....now I make doubly sure that I'm using the right tube. I've thought of switching to bottled facial cleansers instead! Thanks for responding and have a good day!

Once by mistake I applied cold cream and started brushing. It was horrible experience and I had to brush my teeth properly two or three times to remove that horrible taste from my mouth. That was a lessen for me.

Oh my... i am so sure that facial cleanser did not taste good... something like this has never happened to me... but i once applied deodorant as lotion to my legs... that was very funny... i made a mistake because the containers look almost the same... and when i smelled the deodorant... i instantly went yuckkky...

Once in a while I fine powder the wood charcoal add a little table slat and a few drops of lemon juice and brush my teeth with my finger to get that extra white.

eew lol! well hopefully your teeth will be smoother and more youthful hahaha! i almost, almost-talking right at my lips ready to put the brush in my mouth, used my dads Brill cream once! you know that hair stuff to slick a mans hair back, its in a tube just a little wider than my usual toothpaste and sits in the same little basket thingy. the only reason i didnt put it in my mouth was because i happened to glance up in the mirror and notice it was white instead of blue! i wonder how shiny and manageable my teeth would have been?

Hi, tried it once and that's enough - the taste of facial cleanser was really yucks! Wouldn't be able to continue with that! Well, at least you were awake enough to notice the color of your 'toothpaste'. I wonder what Brylcream taste like???? Thanks for responding and have a great day!

Something very similar happened to me! However, I wasn't sleepy at all. I was wide awake - I was even talking with my older sister then. We both went into the bathroom together because we were preparing for bed. I was still babbling when we were about to brush our teeth, instead of the toothpaste, I grabbed the facial wash tube instead. Oh boy was it bitter! Thanks for the response on my discussion!

We generally use toothpaste at home but when we visit our grandparents' place i remember using a tooth powder. I have even chewed the branch/bark of Neem tree. In India, these are very common replacements for toothpaste and toothbrush, especially in the countryside.
