Why do I do this?

Now the nights are drawing in a lot quicker I am obviously using the lights inside my house a lot more. Tell me something though, why do I walk up the stairs and then turn the light on? It makes no sense to do this at all. Am I saving electric by doing this? Maybe a few seconds, the amount of time it takes me to reach the top of my stairs but not enough to make any significant difference to my electric bill! What other reason could I possibly have?
Does anyone else do this? Why?

What about carrying a torch? Or using a matches and candles :) On a serious note one has to be cautious not to use excessive lighting but you cannot live in darkness either. I don't think that you will save a lot of money on electricity by not putting lights on when climbing the stairs.

Yes I do Humbug. I also walk out of rooms and switch the light off and then on again? Why? I think that we think that we ought to switch the light on or off and spend the time walking up the stairs thinking "better switch on the light" and then we do so quite involuntarily. Potty, but then humans are!

Hello p1kf1sh
Phew! I am so glad I am not the only one!! I think with me it is more of the case that I know where I am going when I go up the stairs until I get to the top and can't see anything so I then put the light on, that is until I trip up the stairs!! LOL
