Have you ever eaten something that you thought you wouldn't like, but found out that you actually liked it?

Funny you should ask this because yesterday I ate something that I thought I was going to barf up, but I really like it a lot. I know a lot of people are turned off the by smell of the duran fruit. The spikey fruit with the pungent smell inside. When my parents brought it out and I smelled it from across the room, I amost lost it. After persistant "try it" I took the leap of faith and actually put it in my mouth. As soon as I tasted the creaminess of the fruit and the unique taste, I was hooked. I REALLY LIKE IT! I had a creamy texture, like I said, the taste was sweet, but not overly. You just have to get past the smell factor I guess. So that's my story about the duran fruit.

durian is notorious for its pungest smell especially when the fruit is matured enough. However, if the candies made from this fruit is delicious, then perhaps the fruit itself is delicious. Your post has made me curious, so I might look to trying it out one of these days. When's the peak season anyway?

My husband likes to eat fried tau-fu but I never liked it. Always, I am reluctant to prepare it because he is the only one who would eat it but not me. It is quite tiring to prepare a little dish because I have to do the same process from scratch. It is better to prepare food for more people because of that reason. However, one day I thought about giving some food to my neighbor who was going to have a ceremony in her house. I couldn't attend because we had to go back to my husband's hometown. I asked my husband for an opinion and he said what about fried tau-fu? I dismissed the idea thinking nobody would like to eat it. But then my husband said you should try to eat it first before you comment you don't like it. So I thought, okay if that is the case, this time I will prepare it because it is for many people and I will taste it. After it is fried, I tried it and... wow! It was very delicious! I was so embarrassed with my husband because I said I didn't like it all this while. Now I really like it and whenever I feel like eating fried tau-fu I would prepare it. Moreover now the two of us are eating, the effort of preparing is not that tiring anymore. LOL!

Yes. I cannot get past the smell of some things to even try to want to taste it. I have tried some things though and it did not taste like it smelled at all.

Yep, banana peppers. The hubby has always been after me to try them and I thought they looked and smelled nasty. Well my husband's best friend brought over his deep fryer and they fried up a bunch of batter dipped banana peppers. I didn't want to be rude, so I took one. It was soooo good! Now, I eat banana peppers on pizza, sandwiches, whatever I can stick a few on.

Here in the Philippines, we have a dish called "dinuguan" from the root word "dugo" or "blood." Now, it is raw pork blood mixed with some meat and then cooked, heated. Then we put it on top of our rice and eat it. At first, I thought it was gross then it happened that I went out and that's what we had for dinner. I was hesitant but I didn't want to go hungry and so I ate it. Well, it tasted good! Maybe it really depends on how people cook it, but in my experience, it was good.

Yes, I thought that cauliflower and broccoli are not that delicious. When someone cooks Chopsuey (mixed veggies) I just eat potatoes alone and nothing else but when my friend dared me that if I eat Cauli and Broccoli she will treat me to McDonalds so I was forced to eat them. Luckily I liked the taste and since then my favorite veggie dish would be fried cauli and broccoli mixed with oyster sauce. Yummy! ^^,
