I can never get IT'S right!! What's your most common mis spelt word??

Shame on me! I am so careless that I would always write ITS instead of IT'S. This, I think, is the most common mistake I do here. What about you friends? Is there any word that you are prone to mis spell? Happy typing correct spellings.

The most commonly mis-spelt word for me here on mylot is "because" for sure! For some reason I always seem to end up reversing the a and the u! I also keep using semi-colons instead of apostrophes for words like "can't" and I keep on using the letter p for o and vice versa. When I get carried away I repeat these mistakes over and over and it drives me crazy! lol.

I'm pretty anal when it comes to spelling, mimpi. I don't like seeing red dotted-lines on my response before submitting it. I just have to get it right. I read my post again and again to make sure I got everything right and then post it. But when I'm tired and don't have much time, I tend to give the spelling of the homonym of words. Like I know in my head, I'm thinking "there", I type "their" (which is wrong) or "our" for "are" or vice versa and etcetera. And it's could have, not could of, people!

LOL! BLESS YOU LADY! I am sooo TIRED of this silly "would of" phrase, which clearly comes from not learning that it's a contraction of WOULD HAVE! I even hear so-called professionals making this error! But then again, I see professional publications (once a BILLBOARD for cryin' out loud) with misspellings in them! There just are too few standards left these days, what with teachers telling kids to "...spell creatively (!) if you want to, just DO remember that what's important is you must feel free to "express yourself." Gah. Spare me. Maggiepie

Ahaha... thanks, maggiepie. I just wanted it out there because I've come across a number of people who have written it down not just here on myLot but in real life as well.

Come to think of it they are quite few i should be ashamed of. Freind for friend. Hope i've never said fiend instead anytime reponse for response The can'ts. it's. thier's... oops, this list seems to be going on and on. Seems i'm being a little careless, cannot keep blaming it on typos. Now i'm even starting to wonder if the right message is going through.

Blame it on fat fingers or being the one finger specialist. Actually, let's see who can make a longer list here. No prizes though and no ego's at stake. Only a good laugh.

There is only one word that I commonly misspell. All the others are typos. My word is fenugreek and for some reason I always want to spell it with two n's instead of one. Unlike my habit of going through the occasional two-way door by pushing if I'm going out and by pushing if I'm going out and pulling if I'm coming in, with spelling, I always stop and think. It is the typing that I do automatically.

Wikipedia has a lovely drawing of it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fenugreek The seeds make an interesting tea that has many health benefits, but I like to eat the tender young greens. They are scrumptious sauteed in butter, but it may be an "acquired" taste.

I don't like anything bitter, drannhh. But then they also use it in curry paste or powder so anything that has to do with Indian food, I will try. Maple-syrup odor. Oh, that's just the pits!

I have trouble with that word, too. I have to stop and think, now is it IT'S or ITS? And, some how the rules of possession just do not apply to this word, when I am sitting here wondering which form to use.*L*

Most often it is the words that have 'i' and 'e' together that I misspell. Another common thing that happens to me is that I think and type so fast that Iam slower in releasing the 'shift' key after I stype the first letter...so I often have the first two letters in capital letters. For example, 'REmember' and I;ve noticed it happens more with words that have an 'e' in the second position (no idea why that is so).

I have to say that I pride myself on the use of correct grammar, spelling and punctuation but there are words that I often type incorrectly because of the way the keys fall. I touch type, i.e. use all fingers and thumbs and there are a few words which I often have to go back over because I always type them wrong LOL! I really don't like to see people referring to themselves as "i" instead of "I" and too often I see people using "your" instead of "you're". Getting back to the point, the word I most commonly mistype that I can think of right now is "probably" which I type as "proabably" :)

I know Mili what you mean. I have always found you using the correct spellings syntax and whatever it takes to be one of the most disciplined writers here. kudos...I, myself, find it little difficult to type when using the laptop. Typing on desktop gets easier. I still remember the discussion where you said how offputting to see acronyms and abbreviations like kinda, your (when we meab you are) and things like that. I agree totally with Ellie.

Hehe Ellie, that's cos I'm so anal that I tend to reread most of my posts before hitting "post comment". Still sometimes they do slip through. As I write for consumer review sites I tend not to use slang in my posts and avoid the use of text speak. I don't even use text speak when I send text messages (which is very rare) LOL! x

The word thoroughly used to get me EVERY time! I used to try and actually think of alternate words so I didn't need to remember how to spell it. lol Then I started saying the word out loud as Tho Rough Ly and now I can spell it fine. Don't know how I'd do in a conversation now, though! ;)

I always recall it's "ITS" when referring to the possessive (with the mental tag that for THIS case, the apostrophe disappears), while "IT'S" needs the apostrophe to indicate CONTRACTION. Suffice to say, it's not a problem for ME. However, "THE" is. Inevitably when I'm whizzing along too swiftly on the keys, it comes out "teh." I've noticed others doing this as well. Perhaps it's some sort of dyslexia of the fingers? LOL! Maggiepie

Hi mimpz! Back when I just joined the site and the spell check its not activated I have done a lot of mis spelt! But now that its activated its not that much anymore. My big issues now is my grammar and few words that are always missing on my post or on my responses. Hopefully in time my grammar will improve.
