Being 'Realistic' is a mid way path.between optimism and pessimism!..both positive traits! It is better to be optimist and with a ting of realism blended!..Pessimsm is most un desirabletrait!..its most negative trait!

Great topic!! I always tell everyone I'm a optimistic realist which in my opinion is the best way to be. I'm a very confident person with no insecurity issues or shyness. I always have been the problem solver and can't stand when someone just gives up and/or gets a pessimist attitude about a not so good situation. Life is what you make of it with a little bit of destiny involved. We are all given free choice, and the ability to make independent decisions on what goes on around us. Sometimes we can't control what happens, but we can always control how it's handled. The optimistic realist is a leader, not a follower. Great topic, OUT2WIN (+)

I'm a bit of each. Usually I'm an optimist, but a lot of the time it's just to make others feel better (about themselves, about life, etc). Although I am a positive person when I want to be, I'm also realistic. I know that things aren't always going to be perfect, that there's going to be bumps in the road, and that there will be moments of extreme depression where you feel like nothing can improve the situation you're in. From there, I either become optimistic or pessimistic (usually the latter xD). It's life, you can't be happy all the time, now can you?

I would have to say that I am a little bit of all three. I like to think optimistically as much as I can though by choice. The power of positive thinking can help in hard times and has worked for me in my life. I have had moments of pessimism and being realistic but that kind of just brings me down. A very good thing is to stay on the up side! Take care.

I was thinking about making a topic like this but then I searched it and this one came up. =P I have to say I'm slightly more pessimstic though. I don't often look at the bright side of things and think about how they can get better, but instead say, "This is it, it sucks, and I can't do anything about it.". I encourage myself sometimes though, especially when doing sports, for example. Even though I consider myself a pessimist, I have hope (that's why I think I'm just slightly pessimistic). I can encourage myself to an extent and pull through things instead of complaining about them whem I don't like them. I'm not sure about realism. *Has a complicated character* XD
