Do you children pee in the bed?

My son has been challenged in this area. And the way we are helping him is by making sure he doesn't drink a lot of liquids before going to bed. We also make sure he goes to the restroom before he goes to bed. This has especially been effective verses spanking him and scolding him verbally. We're just glad he is coming to understand his own little body and how it functions we well.

I had a hard time getting my older son to go through the night without wetting the bed. What eventually worked was doing like you do, limiting liquid intake a few hours before bed, and then making sure he went to the bathroom right before going to bed. But that on its own wouldn't always work. So what I did was set my alarm to go off in the middle of the night so I could wake him up to go pee. I would gradually set the alarm farther ahead each night. Within a few weeks, he was sleeping through the night without wetting the bed... and I was back to getting a full night's sleep and not having to do all that extra laundry. :)

That was a very intelligent way to handle a situation such as this.. You helped him to set his own internal alarm clock to go off later and later and it worked for him, that was really a smart move on your part..

Thank you. :) I'm just glad it worked for him. Of my four sons, he's the only one who needed extra help with getting through the night.

No, not really. I will let all my kids wear pull ups until they are completely ready to use the bathroom on their own.. That way they will not wet the bed.. It hardly has ever happened to me, but maybe once with my son. They are all usually potty trained before 4 years old..

Boys' bladders are often not as developed as little girls' at the same age. Many boys wet the bed until they are even 12 years old! It is not a matter of disciplining them but a matter of training (as you are doing) and simply time. You are doing the right thing!

i had been into that situation as well but i still let my daughter drink water and milk before she sleep usually an hour and lets her pee before going to bed and that has been a habit of her ever since:) because i don't think it is advisable to not let your kid drink something before going to bed....
