Is stoning to death an innocent girl barbaric?

I was reading the news and was sad and angry to read that a 13 year old girl was stoned to death in Somalia because she was accused of adultery. The news reported that the girl was on her way to visit her grandmother when she was abducted and raped. She went to the local authorities to report the rape, but instead of helping her capture the rapists, she was accused of adultery and sentenced to death by stoning.
She was buried in the grounds with only her head visible to the crowd. The crowd then peltered stones at her still she died. The rapists were never caught and still out there preying on their next victims....
To see a child being raped, accused of adultery when help was supposed to be given to her and stoned to death is a totally inhuman and barbaric act to me. Please share me your thoughts on this issue as this barbaric act is making me really really sick. What is happening to civilisation?????

It is barbaric. It's horrible how some people treat some innocent victims without even trying to dig into the truth. It's sickens just thinking about it. It's when I hear stories like this one that I feel so helpless and makes me want to speak and yell.

It is horrible but other countries don't do things the way we do in the US. I am not saying that we don't have our own issues. I just hope that some of these countries start to change. The world is getting smaller in a way because of Tv the internet, ect. But in most countries women are considered second class citizens and don't have the rights that we are use to. It is sad and I am like you makes me sick and angry, but also glad to live where I do, and have the rights that I do.

things like that are NOT civilized! they are horrid, disgusting, unbelievable acts of a barbaric culture/religion..whatever it is that spawns such repulsive behavior towards a VICTIM!
invariably the very same cultures that still practice this barbaric tradition are the very same ones that will always claim to be very civilized. hypocrisy at its finest..ok not its finest but damn if it isnt a shining example of being backasswards in the world today!
