I cooked a peice of chicken for over 2 hours tonight

I wasn't supposed to, it was only supposed to cook for a half hour at the most. Usually, I'm cooking it to eat with my dinner so I know about when it's ready. Tonight I was cooking a peice of chicken so I could put it in my salad for lunch tomorrow. Well, it went into the oven around 5:30 and for some unknown reason I heard the oven click at 7:20 and remembered that my chicken was in there. Well, I'm getting ready to cook another peice of chicken so that it's not hot when I make my salad in the morning. I'm going to set the timer on it this time or I'll sit here and goof off on the computer for another 2 hours and overcook it again!

Well I see you do not like charcoal chicken I do not blame you. I bet it was so dry you could barley cut it. Good luck with the second piece.

It was at least half the size! I wasn't even going to chance using a knife on it and I just threw it out.

It's easy to get distracted-- especially when the computer is involved. I've actually had my "canine alert system" (my one dog) come trotting to me before to warn me of impending kitchen disaster.

I'm just glad I got to it before it started smokin'. I used the timer when I cooked a new one, that seems to work much better :)

That's funny, well maybe not funny but I can relate. I often get so wrapped up in what I'm doing in front of the computer that I "forget" I'm cooking something or not realize how much time has passed. Like maybe having frozen vegetables boiling up...until suddenly I hear...sizzle, sizzle, sizzle and smell something burning. Yup, the water has evaporated and the veggies are burning...ekkkk!

I thought I'd be able to remember it because I was cooking dinner at the same time. I was right there by the stove when it should have come out, but I just went on my merry way... Finished dinner, watched tv, crocheted a little bit. Then BAM, I remembered about it. I've got the timer set now, should go off in a minute or two...
