What deters you from responding

Are you less likely to respond to a discussion if it has a lot of answers or if it has zero? Sometimes if a discussion has a ton of responses then I feel like I probably couldn't contribute anything further and move on. But on the other hand sometimes zero responses can be a deterrent because there isn't anything to build on. How do you guys feel?

Hello jesssp If there are no responses then I like to be the first to get the ball rolling sometimes that is the only response a discussion will get! Sometimes I won't respond to a discussion if it has already had loads of responses because like you say 'what more can you contribute'? Sometimes you have to read through all the responses left by others too before you can respond yourself and that can be time consuming!!

That's a good way to look at it. It can really be discouraging when your discussion gets no responses, especially when you're just starting out.

I do not usually respond to discussions with a lot of responses as well. I very rarely read the today's top or hot discussions, because after the discussions has fourty or more responses, I do not think I have much to add to it and the poster probably stops reading them after a cerain amount. I usually select the new category. I do not respond to questions that require a yes or no answer either. And I definitely am not responding to Obama discussions, he has already won the election, so let it rest.

I usually hit the recent discussions first. I also stay away from Obama discussions as I'm Canadian and definitely wouldn't have much to offer.

It does nt matter how many responses are in one for me to respond. If it interests me I will respond be there zero or a hundred responses. Even if I say something already stated I feel I can usually add something to the discussion. Sometimes I spend a few hours responding just to those discussions with no resp[onses. It's kind of fun and different for me. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I also often skip discussions that have a lot of responses already because, as you say, I feel like I probably can't say anything that hasn't already been said. But if a discussion has zero responses I'll definitely reply if I have something to say, in fact I often look under "no responses" for things to reply to.
