I heard on the news yesterday that 4 black student walking home from a frat party in philadelphia were attacked by 15 other students. They said things like "Obama can't help you now" and something like "You people aren't allowed to be at this party" or something like that. One of the girls being interviewed said that it was a neighborhood that african americans were not known to be in. also in long island ny, there were a bunch of cars vandalized with the words " kill Obama '08" written on the windsheilds. Now tell me, is it fair or racist of me to say that all the people that are against Obama being elected president are a bunch of racist white people? I'm sick of hearing comments like " this is our president" . As a black man I don't feel like that at all and it sounds very stupid and ignorant. I know some people tell it as a joke, but some (white) people really think like this. My friend went to connecticut over the weekend. She told me she went into a convenient store and the white lady behind the counter says to her holding up the news paper " Obama won" I'm so happy for you people. What the hell is that supposed to mean? It's like getting a complement and being insulted at the same time. and of course my friend tells me some other white lady standing there says "I'm very angry about how the election went, I'm not happy at all. He doesn't have the experience". My friend said she paid for her things and left. That lady could've kept it real, and the rest of the people in nthe world need to keep it real and say what they really mean. it's not about experience, people are mad because there is a black man in office! Just be honest and say it. The sad thing is Obama is gonna have to spend the most of his term in office cleaning up the crap that's been left behind before he actually gets to do the things he wants to as president. And if he doesn't do a decent job, the majority of the white people out there are going to blame it on a black man being president! I have no problem with anyones ethnic backgrounds, so excuse me if it sounds like I have a problem with them. But all I'm doing here in my mind is speaking the truth. I have yet to here of any asians, blacks, or latinos complain about Obama being elected to my knowledge. What the hell is wrong with people today? It's very sad and it pisses me off to know that racism will never go away, and that people are so ignorant and stupid to treat other people with disrespect because of their skin color or ethnic background. Is racism something that people are born into? Do you just start hating people for no reason? I know most people crack racist jokes from time to time,I do it myself. Dave chappelle had this discusion on his show about racist jokes. many of us do it. My softball team is mostly latin ameerican, and they joke about me eating chicken and watermelon all the time. I get a good laugh out of it, as I tease them about eating beans and rice and papayas all day long. But there is a serious issue about how out of control the real racism is out here today. It's sad to admit to this, but I really feel that Obama getting elected is gonna cause the issue of racism in this country to get even worse. Now that there is a black man in the white house, people out there are more pissed off than ever. I was told that there were alot of pissed off people at my job the night Obama won. My reaction was screw all of them! the republicans just had 8 years of Bush in office. And where are we know? We have been at war for far too long. Too many troops have died, and the economy is in the worst shape it has ever been in. Can you blame all of these things on Bush? I don't know for I don't really follow politics. I here people say it's all Bush's fault and I just listen to what they have to say about it since I don't have an honest opinion on the subject. But all I kniw is that I wish the ignorance would stop. Obama is not the BLACK mans president. He's everyones president. White people are acting as if he's going to be pulling strings for all the minorities, and leaving the white man out of the picture! Until he does that, and I'm positve he won't, shut the hell up and let the man do his job! Stop taking out your anger on all afican americans. Yeah I'm happy Obama won. But it doesn't autimaticaly make my life %100 better because there's a black man in office. I gotta go through the same struggles as eveyone else. Everyone is worried about job security, not just the white people. It's not like only the white man will be laid off, but president Obama will see to it that all the blacks and asians keep their jobs!

I can certainly understand your anger and frustration but I want to assure you I'm white and I'm VERY happy Obama won and I'd feel this way no matter what color, race, religion or gender he was. Obviously there are people who disagree with me, but I voted for him and I'm glad he'll be our President soon (not soon enough!!) because of his ideas and where he stands on the issues that matter the most to me and to our country. Every single one of my good friends and family members also voted for Obama, quite a few of them voting for the first time in their lives. Nothing would make me happier than for racism to be wiped off the face of the earth completely but I doubt that will ever happen but I'm still optimistic that we'll see some real change in the next few years. There may be some tough hurdles to get over first but if Obama and his Administration does the kind of job for all of the American people that I trust they'll do I think there may be some major crow eaten. I have no problems with white people or any other race at all. The reason I started the discussion with the frase "racist white people" is that I've only been hearing of alot of nasty comments and vicious acts comming from the white race. Racism goes both ways of course. Remmember a few years ago several black students attacked a white boy at some school and got expelled? All the parents were outraged that their kids were kicked out of school. I don't know the whole story behind the attacking, but I thought it was justified that they be expelled. I think the main argument in that case was if it had been white students attacking a black student they would have still been attending classes until further investigation. I would hope that not to be true. But I don't think racism will never go away. I don't know why or how people get to a point where they discriminate against a person because of their skin color. It's not gonna be easy for obama to fix this country at all. The economy is very bad, and the job situation is very bad right now. People are loosing homes left and right. As for racism it is a topic that seems it will never be solved and it sucks. I don't have a problem with people political beliefs. I think all of us as a whole need to keep our opinions to ourselves when we are out in public no matter who we support. There are too many arguments that can lead to a very nasty confrontation with someone we don't even know when it comes to this subject. I just remembered there was a black man who mugged and attacked a white womam at an atm machine a month ago. he robbed her, and then assaulted her after he saw she had Mccain stickers on her car. That woman had no right to be treated like that. He also carved the letter B in her face in support of Obama. when I heard that I thought that's gonna make people say "look at the type of supporters senator Barack Obama has. Muggers and thugs". That's one og the few black on white attacks vs the many other racist acts that have been going on. This whole country sucks, and I hope people will change how they are before we kill each other off the planet. Thanks for your response.
