Prop 8

I actually lie in Utah and I have two brothers who are both gay, plus a good friend who is. My opinion on prop 8 is that it sucks. The fact that the people in California voted to take away the rights of a group of people is just sick. Now as for the Mormon church's involvement in this proposition. Why was it any of their business who anyone sleeps with. I have also seen comments on line (not necessarily here) which said that gays and lesbian can be domestic partners and have the same rights. But if one part of a domestic partnership is sick the other can't get information. Only one or two states allow them to and then they have to have paper proof!Straight couples are never asked to have paper proof! They just say their married and can get information. Why is it that gays and lesbians have to fight so hard for a right the rest of us take completely for granted.

As far as my opinion on the Mormon church and their involvment with Prop 8, they need to have their tax exempt status removed, especially since they're getting inovlved in legal matters and after all, there is supposed to be separation between church and state. Sadly, that obviously isn't happening in our country. Any church that crosses the line needs to have their tax exempt status taking away for breaking the law.

Absolutely! Because you know another non-profit would have that happen. But churches seem to have the ability to do anything and everyone says it's okay just because they've become too powerful. The churches need to be brought down a few notches.

I couldn't agree more. I hate how it's ok for churches to get involved in matters such as these but it's not OK for other people. We should keep our noses out of things like that and that bugs me to no end. If you want to brainwash people into voting and thinking a certain way, then you should have to pay taxes.

We've already proven that separate but equal is not equal with Brown vs. Board of Education in Topeka Kansas. So I don't know why people still try to say a domestic partnership is equal. It's not. I don't think any churches should be allowed to be involved. Church is a place where it is easy to brainwash people and I think that's a large part of how prop 8 got passed. Don't blame me, I voted no! And if all goes well, I'll be out there protesting this Saturday.
