Let's talk about suicide

My today's lesson was about euthanasia and suicide. I was really pleased that my sixteen year old students really took this subject with great interest and dealt with it in a mature way. I narrated some real life experiences, where people I knew committed this terrible act and the devastation that they left on their family. I was surprised that they really listened to what I had to say as if they were young kids listening to a fairy tale. I told them that if they hear a friend of theirs saying that he wants to commit a suicide they should always take him seriously and help him as much as they can. They can make difference in the life of others. Is suicide a subject that you try to avoid?

i dont avoid it because i am and i know a lot of people that have depression or bipolar so its a very serious issue that could affect or happen to anyone.. i think its the people that avoid the subject that are the most likely to lose some one to it because they dont want to see potential signs

i suffer from major depression pstd bi polor and adhd I have tried 3 times to kill myself and was put in the hospital My stomache pumped and my medicaions switched I have found if I can talk about it in the open I am less ap to try to do it then if I keep it quiet and dont say anything I have atempted a few other times but just go into a deep sleep I guess I think it is something that needs to be talked about When someone says something about it or not feeling needed listen show them they are It may help it the silence that can hurt them and people not listening says they dont realy care what they do

i dont try and avoid it, but it is a very sad subject. i have known people to kill themselves, and its very hard to deal with. not only do you loose that person that you love, but it leaves so many unanswered questions. ive been at a point in my life where i have considered leaving this world, but thank god, my faith was strong enought o keep me from going that far and getting help. its just sad that there are those out there that feel so lost. ive always heard that if someone really wants to die, they want talk about it, they will just do it. that scares me. none of us know what is going on with someone.
