How did you name your babies?

I'm 6 month pregnant now. My husband and I have been thinking of the name for our baby, and last night finally we've figured out what name is to be given to our lovely baby. I'm really happy for that. My husband and I kept pronouncing and writing the name, see if it sounds and looks nice. As we are Chinese, the name consists of two Chinese characters. My husband has thought of one character some time ago, simply because we like the character and it was a name for an ancient General in China. I've been thinking for another character these few days, and we chose this as I like the pronunciation and also the writing of the character. When we combined two characters together, they sound quite nice. We counted the number of strokes too. ^_^ How did you name your babies? Do you follow certain guidelines or because of some meanings? Or just simply because it's nice to pronounce and nice to write? Please share your experience. Thanks!

Well, what did you decide on???? You can't not tell us! We spent the entire 9 months thinking of and dismissing names and it was a chore let me tell ya! We just had a really hard time giving a permenant name to our child not knowing if they would like it or hate it.

Hi psspurgeon1, thanks for your response. Well, it's a Chinese name, I don't know if I can type Chinese words here. Well, as for the English name, it's Hin Yu, translated from Chinese. ^_^

Well, I like it! More importantly, you and hubby like it! We didn't decide for sure on our first daughters name until the night before we had her and our first daughter picked out the name for our second daughter. They are sweet girls with sweet names that fit them perfectly. I want to name our next baby, if a boy, Gaddyn. I love that name. :-) How is your pregnancy going? Is it easy for you or difficult???

I have 4 children and all of them have names that are significant in some way to my husband and myself. My first child is named Andrew Carl. Andrew is just a name that my husband and I both liked. It seems like a strong name to us. We used Carl as his middle name because that was my fathers name. My second is Nicholas Craig. Nicholas again is a name that we both liked. Craig is the name of my husbands best friend who was killed in a car accident about 2 months before Nicholas was born. Taylor Parker is my third child. His name is Taylor which is my moms maiden name and Parker which is my mother in laws maiden name. Then there is Katelyn Jean. Katelyn is a combination of Kate (which is one of our favorite names for a girl) and Carolyn which is my name. Jean is my mothers middle name. Good thing I didn't have any more children...I would have run out of names:)
