It's true in some context, however, but when i listen to songs i may have listened to when i was depressed- those deep unhappy feelings come back- so i've ruined perfectly good songs. Though it is true- a few years ago, music saved my friend from self harming again.

i truely believe that music can go either way with a person. like you said, ive ruined a great song with bad memories, but at the same time, certain songs bring me out of a funk. i think music is more powerful than some may think. it seems to be my saving grace at times. im glad it saved your friend.

actually according to me it all depends upon persons whether they will be having any advantage from listening to music.... basically depends whether love to hear music or not

There's some scientific proof that our bodies respond physically to music, so it's not a huge stretch of the imagination to believe that music can actually heal or harm. For instance, scientists have found that when people listen to music with a tempo that is different from their heart rate, their heart rates will adjust toward the tempo - speeding up if the music is faster and slowing down if it is slower. There's a whole fascinating theory about the way that molecules respond to sound waves that claims to account for it. It's the vibrations of sound waves, for instance, that breaks a glass when a certain note is sustained long enough. The television show Mythbusters did an experiment a while ago where they put one of the guys between two very large speakers (he was wearing earplugs to protect his hearing) and blasted music at him through the speakers. He was unaffected for a while, but as the sound got louder and the tempo changed, he eventually found himself feeling nauseous and dizzy and just generally ill.

I agree. But i feel sometimes music can bring some bad memories, at least for me. I feel sad when listen some sad love songs, it is really touching, and i can not help myself out of that.
