I have been writing at Assoc. Content for about 3 months now and I have been making an average of $3.50 per article. I have written various topics but they all seem to pay the same upfront amount. Can you make more there and what do you do to make sure your content will earn you more?

I made $20 on a piece that I wrote one time as upfront payment. Others I have written paid me $10 up front, but those were a while ago. I have many that I have been paid $4 upfront on recently. The ones that made me more money were actually a memoir piece and a few travel guides to popular cities (Miami and Myrtle Beach).

Interesting! I sent a memoir piece, a humorous non-fiction story about pet ownership and AC rejected it saying that all memoirs, poetry or prose, and short stories do not qualify for upfront payments. That was so weird because they paid me upfront for two other stories about my time in London and France (not travelogs but memoir stories.) I don't know why their broke their own rule about memoirs and paid me. :((

I love Associate Content. My pen name there is Al Grant. If they offer you an amount you have the opportunity to decline it and add more to the article. I have decline quite a few payments and then they usually come back with a higher amount.I do not know if you are accepting the first offer or not, but if you are I would suggest that you try the above techinque.

I really do not understand the different ways when sumitting the articles, I rarely do not answer calls due to the fact I do not care much for "where to find Christmas myspace templates" and the likes. So I usually write something, wait till they publish it and try to get some preformance out of the article. My clout is 5. So what is the best way to submit the article to get upfront payment?

Wow!! That is gutsy of you to DECLINE an upfront payment. I think I may try your suggestion. I am not much of a gambler though and am afraid they won't up the amount a second time and not pay me anything. Sheeesh!! Will try it on a really popular subject and hope it works. Thanks for the tip!

The real money made at AC is from page views trust me. Learn keywording it makes all the difference in the world.

I've kind of given up on AC really. I still get performance pay from them but I don't jump at opportunities to write for them anymore because they pay really bad anymore. I'm always told, well if you do this, this and this you can get paid more! I do what I'm told and I get paid less. AC has REALLY gone down the tubes. I wouldn't put much stock into AC and would combine it with a few other programs to really make the most out of it.

Well, at least they are still paying the average $3.50 per accepted article. Will try Al's tip to see if I can get more. Thanks for your reply!

You can make more then $3.50 an article, though not much. I have made as much as $7.20 for one article (plus performance pay). However, I don't know how they come up with what to offer you for your article. I try to write articles that are in categories that don't have a lot of articles. I try writing new and unique content and see where that gets me. However, I am often surprised by what makes money and what doesn't at AC.

I also write at Associated Content and I think it is the quality of the article that counts as the money is based on performance. The more published articles the more opportunity for page views. I would suggest discussion groups, and forums related to your content and having your article url as part of your signature, but not part of the comments to the discussion group or forum.
