Could You Be Employed As An Executioner?

Imagine if you were out of work or had an opportunity to take up the post of Chief executioner where you had to flick the switch and carry out the death sentence would you take up the post? Imagine also that the death penalty WAS in force in your country! Would you have the stomach to flick the switch knowing that your action would electrocute someone who was sentenced to death for a heinous crime Would you get satisfaction from it or would you just think of it as just a job a way to pay the bills? Would you conscience get in the way of carrying out your duties or would you get a sense of satisfaction of a job well done And what would you expect to get paid for doing this job? Or would you take the minimum wage that you were doing society a great favour by getting rid of evil rapists, molestors, killers and other sick members of society? If you were executioner would flicking the switch be enough satisfaction for you and would you get bored with the job? The job is for life! (no pun!) and there are no chances of being made redundant! Would you take it, could you take the job?

Hi ya wolfie34 Nope, no way could I do that. What if they had got the wrong person for the crime and found out just after you had flicked the switch? I could never sleep at night because I guess technically you too are a murderer!! Nope, couldn't do it. What about you wolfie? Could you do it? Would you get total job satisfaction from such a job?

In the cold light of day I think I am far too sensitive to take on this role, as much as it sounds like a great way of satiating my revenge you are right what if it is the right person, even if it is thinking about it and actually doing it, well totally different aren't they!

wow, that a tough one. i do believe in capital punishment, but im not sure if i could actually do it myself. i think if the crime was so bad, that maybe i could, but i really think i might have serious problems after. i do think they need to get pais a little more than the average minimum wage, because of the tyoe of work they are doing. theya re actually taking a life, regardless of how not wortha a crap that person may be. now if it was someone who had done harm to my children or family, then i really do thinki could do it and maybe even smile while doing it. ow if this makes me a bad person, im not sure. at time i can see this as a rewarding job ( as weird as that sounds )but on the other hand, im not god. you reallt got me thinking on this one.

I know I couldn't do this. I can't see how the executioner is any less of a murderer than the person they're executing. Also, how could anyone live with themselves if they executed someone who was later proved innocent.

With due respect for the executioners, I do not think I would be able to do that. I am not fit for it Wolfie. I admit, that I have a weak heart that bleeds even when I think of it. So, I would obviously be a bad choice and they would fire me soon. You better give me some other job Wolfie.

I think it is a wise person indeed who recognises that the job over time will damage the person terribly blessed be

Paying the bills is important. I don't know what to expect to be paid for such employment. But I have to say, I really don't think I'd have the stomach for such a job. The people that do it have my respect. It would give me nightmares, I think.

No I would not like to work that way. I watched the film about an executioner in Britain and to be honest I don;t like the job. I don't want to play god and take life from their body with my own hands. I would not feel right inside me.

a spider - Yes i would even let this spider go free
My dear wolfie, I could not nor would not ever hurt anyone. Even if they had murdered my family. I would hate them, despise them and hope they got what was coming to them. BUT I could not do it. I just dont have the heart to kill or hurt anyone. I do feel that people who do crimes should have the same thing done to them. I dont even kill spiders when they are inside my house:)

I'd never kill a spider Princess, although that is the only bug I won't kill, unless you count bees of course! You are so loving and gentle that I knew you'd respond this way ;0)

Two of the ancestor's last names on my mom's side were Axmann and Senkbeil (guillotine) and so I was really wondering what kind of work they did for a living. Turned out that Axmann is quite a common name and Senkbeil was changed from something else. So much for that theory! But could I do the job? Heck no, no way, no how.

There cant be any satisfaction when taking the life of a person. No one has that right but if its a job that get me out of poverty i would have to take but i wouldnt feel good about it but i would have to do it to survive in this world. Its a bad thing though that if you pull that switch and kill someone , how would you feel after pulling it and you find out they arent not the one who did it? Thats whats crazy today the decision to end life is very harsh. Some people dont deserve to live in society that they also take a life like rape then murder the person just straight out killing someone for no reason. There shouldnt be any reason to take a life but there circumstances that you have too to save urs or your families. TAKE CARE MYLOTTERS

No, I could not do it. I cannot kill spiders and flies in the house if I can scoop them up and put them outside. I hate trapping mice in the house but I have no choice. I do not hunt as I could not kill wild animals. I suppose if I was starving I could out of necessity hunt but being an executioner would not be an option for me.

I could never! I'm pro-life through and through. I have always believed in the value of life even if the scumbag did a heinous crime and deserves to die! I could not imagine bringing myself to pull the switch that would end someone's life. Kudos to thouse guys who has the guts to do that, though. But I can only imagine what they must be feeling. They're humans too so it must be really hard for them to do it as well.

There are some cases where I can see why the relatives of victims could throw it! I wouldnt want to do that as a full time job but there are some cases where the switch needs to be trown and I think in some cases, yea, I could throw the switch, like when these people hurt children and kill them ...I could throw that switch on cases like that..because they need to know its not going to be tolerated and they wont get by with it ....

I know what I feel about people who commit the worst of crimes - I can't stomach the thought of them roaming the streets free to commit more disgusting crimes but I know for a fact that I couldn't take their lives myself. I know someone would be doing it but I guess I'm too chicken to do it myself.

I don't ever wish to be one. That's a very difficult job. I may prefer not to have a job at all than having such a gruesome job. I just can't seem to imagine executing someone even if the reason is so valid. I just can't take it. I'll just take other job. Happy posting.

I coundn't do it anyway! You know what? I usually feel guilty to kill a big fish! How come I kill a person though these guys sow the wind and reap the whirlwind! They really deserve the capital punishment! But it is still scary and painful to end their lives on the other hand! When I do chemical experiment for corpse sample, I always feel weird as well as terrible! It is hard to sleep well then.
