your 5 year old? I did this morning. And I ended up laughing. At 10 to8 am this morning my daughter didn't have her shoes or socks on. She hadn't finished her breakfast. And He backpack was spilled with the contents on the living room floor. She had 20 minutes to accomplish these tasks before we left for the bus stop. And she was off somewhere playing! I told her she had a job to do. Her job was getting ready for school. She proceeded to try and tell me how play was important and what she wanted to do. This went on for about 90 seconds. And she got down to business. But it made me laugh. She sounded so reasonable about the reasons she wanted to play. I almost agreed with her.

Ohhh, Yeah! People say watch out for the terrible twos well they forget to mention the stubborn 5-8year status. Gotta love them though. Maybe she will be a great Lawyer in the future? My sister is stubborn though I try to get her to do her homework and she is always wanting to watch cartoons or go outside to play. I do not make her do it as soon as she gets home since I figured she needs a break but she always once to wait till later it is always in a little while or wait till this is off Please......lol I usually give in though maybe that is why she still does it.

Thanks for the best response, I really appreciate it alot. My little sis came to day to stay with me to give my mom a break till after the Thanksgiving Holiday. I am going to keep her busy making crafts and her own Christmas cards for everyone since she loves to draw so much.

My son is 8. I get into arguments with him from time to time. Not very often though. My almost 2 year old loves to argue with you though. It is like an every day thing with her.

I've never gotten into an argument with my kids. I don't appreciate when they talk back when I tell them to do something, so normally they'd get in even further trouble by trying to argue with me. Luckily they have learned this, and haven't tried it. When I tell them to do something they'll either do it, or flat out ignore me until I start doling out threats or punishments.

I get that too. Kids are so funny. My 4 year old daughter (5 in January) already thinks she's smarter than me so I'll be in trouble when she's a teen. LOL

Tis is so amusing. YOur daughter sounds very bright and intelligent. It's amazing that she was able to give valid reasons why play is important. I would have laughed too. It sounds as though she may grow up to be a lawyer. I just love to listen to young children reasoning, My grnad twins have me in stitches!
