What do you do with your old clothes, home appliances, watches and shoes? Clothes and shoes that can't fit any more? Those that have just worn out or clothes and shoes that you just don't feel or like to wear any more? Your broken appliances? Well for me if my clothes and shoes are still in good condition, i give them away to my sisters or friends. if there worn out, i sometimes burn them or dispose of them in the garbage. My mom gives her stuff to her church. And if an appliance example her iron or coffee maker goes bad. Once they can be repaired she get it repaired. I've got this old watch that I just love, I've had it fixed many times, but i don't care i like it so it i got to fix it a million times i will. Some of my clothing that i'm just tired of wearing, i just stuff those at the back of my closet. In hopes that one day I'll start wearing them again. Shoes that I've had for a while,if there repairable i go have them done over. If there totally worn out, i throw them out. So do you give yours to charity, friends or family? Repair them? What do you do with them?

depends what it is. big items i usually donate or give away.. fabric items i'll make potholders or quilts out of if the material's still ok in places. appliances usually go in the trash, cause by that time they're usually worthless.

well, something like jeans? cut off the pant leg, line it up so it's flat. take your scissors and even out the big strip so it's like a long square. then you fold it up about three times so it's an even square with the raw edges tucked in.sew up 2 of the 3 sides (the 4th should have a fold in it).put a loop on the remainder at the top then sew it up. then you just stitch corner to corner in an X fashion to quilt it,and go across the side that was folded,..and you have yourself a potholder :)

Well sometimes some of my jeans that may have gotten worn out at the bottom. I cut it and make a new style. Long tops I cut short. How do you make potholders with the fabric?

Quite often I go through all my stuff and have a big throwout. I organise stuff into different piles. Some I ask my family if they want and some I throw directly into the bin. Anything that is leftover I give to charity. I think it feels really good to get rid of old stuff be it shoes, clothes, appliances or what not. It's great to declutter!

I would say when i get rid of some of my old stuff my room feels lighter, it really is a good feeling isn't it. Yeah i agree if a family member or who ever doesn't want it just toss it, there is no need keeping it around the house. thank you for your comment.

Regularly, I check my stuff- clothes, bags, boxes and many things. Books definitely will stay on my bookshelves except overgrown baby book of my kids. I gave it to a school library where my kids finished Montessori Casa Department. Things for keep like baby first toy will be in a memory boxes. Clothes, Bag and shoes will be for " Sharing Stuff". I check first which is good to share and dispose those not so good to share---so worn out stuff! I have a special box for "Sharing Stuff" which I and my kids can easily put in and get it and share.

I volunteer at a women's shelter. I usually donate mine there. You get a nice tax write off, which helps you, and you can give someone else something that they can use. The shelter also helps people in my area who are effected by their houses burning down and such. I helped the shelter start a thrift store, so that the income from that can help them pay some of their bills. I like to give my stuff to them, because they use it to sell to help others or they give them to others. I will also box up some of my stuff and have a very large yard sale about once a year. What is left from the yard sale also goes to the shelter. Also, if the shelter can not use something that you donate to them, they donate it to another agency, like goodwill or somewhere else that might be able to use it. A good site to get rid of free stuff on is www.freecycle.org you can find your local chapter. They offer stuff and you can ask for free stuff, but it is recommended if you ask for something that you also offer something. I like this because it helps youto get rid of clutter, but someone else may benefit from it.

I give what is usable to charity. What is unusable or irreparable, I recycle if I can, otherwise it reluctantly has to go to landfill.

Giving to charity is always a good thing to do. For there are so many people in the world that do not have. And even the little that you give does make a difference for some people. Even helps by putting a smile on there face. I must say that there are alot of things that we find at home to recycle also.

Old things at my house tend to get thrown out. I try to find ways to recycle some old items but really they just get tossed. I keep meaning to donate an old pair of jeans for a place that recycles clothing and gets money for it which then gets donated to a place that buys clothing for homeless people but I keep forgetting to drop them off.

I never knew that there are places that you can recycle your clothing and get money for it. Also after recycling they give the clothes to homeless people. But where i live you can get money for old stuff made of paper. but try not to forget to drop off your stuff.

Hi Antiquelady, It's great to know that you give to charity. Where i live there's lots of Mr.Fix It, jacks of all trades. But I do get what your saying about your son he sounds just like my brother he says that he will get round to it, but it's like he takes ages.

We all have clothes that have come to the end of their lifespan, either because they're worn out or are too small or are simply out of fashion. As new season's ranges come into the high street shops we often find ourselves making room in our wardrobes for the new arrivals, and throwing away old jumpers and shirts that don't make the grade anymore. Instead of putting things in the bin, try recycling them in another way. This makes for less waste, can help you with a hobby, and even give you some great gift ideas! Give them away to a charity shop Use them as cleaning rags Make them into new clothes Make a patchwork quilt Make cushion covers I have so many pairs of shoes that it's simply unreal! I'm a girl!!! I can never bring myself to throw old shoes out. MY feet stopped growing, so I know they'll always fit, but if they a bit scruffy or ruined, they seem to sit in the back of my wardrobe! I love the fact that I have so many pairs of shoes and I have no intention of throwing any of them out! keep posting.. take care and have fun

I love my stuff. I keep the old watches and jeweleries because they had sentimental values to me. Old clothes, I gave to the needy neighbors or relatives. Books, I gave them to my nieces and nephews except novels and encyclopedia that I love so much. Unwanted letters, I burnt them down. Magazines, I keep my loved one that is the Garden and Homes. The rest is donated to the school library.

Keeping my room/surroundings clutter-free will certainly help me in organizing my things. I hate it when a lot of old unuseful things are stuck in my room. So once in a while, whenever I get the luxury of time, I clean up my room and gather unnecessary things which are just sooo annoying in the eyes plus they consume a lot of space. I sort them into two things: the ones to dispose, and the ones to give away ehich others may find very useful. This helps me manage my own space, however small it may be. This allows me to have enough room for more important and essential things.

I too don't like to see my room with junk in it. This morning i cleaned up my room and even said fairwell to some old stuff. I tossed out some old hats and shoes. Some of them I really like wearing (in the day when they used to look new)

If it is still usable and wearable, then I will give it away to the Salvation Army.. If it is not good, I will throw it in the trash can.. I will not give someone something that I can no longer use for myself..

Usually, we give it to our relatives or people we know who we think will like and might need it. Like for our old appliances, if my father can't fix it anymore and not worth it to bring it to the repair shop, we most likely give it to our relatives. As for our clothes, it's either we give it to our cousins, aunts and other relatives or give it other people we know or to the charity.

The old things that I own are usually sent to the barrios or the county side where I have relatives who work in the farm. They can still use it for farming. The others are usually donated to the community for selling then funding to help others. My mom usually does all these things. For old things inside the house, if its broken, my mom sells them in the junk shop. For shoes, clothes and other personal things my younger cousins ask them from me and they do many things to it.

it is good what your mom does and you also. No point of keep things that you no longer choose to wear or use. i say give it to those who need it and can find good uses for it.
