is this a good time to buy a house in US?

I have to go in US for my research and I am thinking to rent or to buy a house. I have seen that houses are now cheap in US because of the crisis and I am wondering if it's a good idea instead of renting to buy one. What do you propose?

I actually feel like it's a great time to buy. There's lots of foreclosures and really inexpensive housing. I feel sorry for the people who have lost there house though. But you really must think of yourself. Just make sure what ever house you do buy make sure you can afford it so you won't have to worry about losing the house either. That's what I'm trying to do. But I don't know if we will make it before are lease is due in Feburary.

If you're going to be here for around 4-5 years, or longer, it's a good idea. If you want to sell your home after you buy it, the market will be better and and you'll have less to loose. If you plan to stay 3 years or less, renting is a way better, and cheaper option.
