Sassy Is Doing Much Better!

She's not up to par just yet but she's doing much better. She stays in the cage for the most part so she can heal the abscess that she got somehow but at night I stay in the room with her so she could have company and yet come out of the cage under a watchful eye, so to speak and no others will torment her in any way. You know how animals are, they kill the injured or sickly which is natures way however I hate it but it is what it is. Probably nothing would happen but I'm not taking any chances. Anyway, she's acting like her old self once again, loving and sweet. There's no words to describe her for she's just a lover gal. She hates her medicine with a passion but she has to have it and will get it and she does get it. Afterwards she'll give me this evil look as if to say "damn you!" but I'll just pet her to help calm her and to let her know she's loved and she settles down and goes to sleep. So she is on the mend!! I'm so glad I caught this thing in time!! 104.5 temperature is nothing to sneeze about!

I've been watching your discussions but having so darned much on my plate, I haven't had time to respond. In fact, I have about 8 pages of discussions that I'd like to respond to if I ever get the chance so please don't take offense if I don't, ok? Bless Gissi's heart and yours too!! I hope he gets to feeling better!!

I've had sick cats and some of mine will actually comfort the sick animal. For example, before Taj had his surgery and while I was still trying to feed him back up so he could be strong enough for the surgery I found one of my other cats cuddled up to him because we had a cool off in the weather back in October. Also, Solo has the same problem but not as bad, but he is also on the thin side. I have found Pong or Timus cuddled up with him to keep him warm too.

I know what you mean about a cat trying to care for you. Sunday night, I was pretty sick with my cold, the roomie was out of the house on a sleep study and I was literally chased out of my bed by the cats! I normally have 6-8 cats in my bed, and one of them on top of me. That night I was having trouble breathing and I had 2 on top of me, and 10, even 12 in bed at one point. I finally went in to the roommate's bed and lay down. There were 3 in her bed and soon there were 5, but at least most of the others stayed in my bed - wish I had done it sooner!

LOL That's cute and funny!! I can imagine that going on in my head and I can't help but laugh! LOL Animals are truely something, they really are! I just wish these nonlovers would give them half a chance and I think they'd all would change their minds. I really do.

Awwwww that's so cute Elic!! I've never seen that before and can only imagine how cute it would be to see!! I've seen cats comfort people but never each other when sick. In fact, my brothers cat, she was solid black, no white on her anywhere but mom would say "You're so spoiled rotten that you stink!" so that's how she got the name "Skunk" lol Talking about a sweetheart, she was one without question. One time I got so sick that I couldn't see straight and for the life of me, I don't know why mom didn't take me to the doctor but nonetheless, she didn't and the whole time, Skunk would lay down beside me or rather she tried to get on top of me but I couldn't take her weight because I was so sick. She never left my side except to eat, drink or go potty and she came right back. She was so annoyingly sweet because I was sooooo sick. Mom had to bathe me because I was so sick and ended up making a mess all over myself because I just couldn't contain anything but Skunk stuck by me all the way. It was something and she's one cat that'll never ever be forgotten, that's for sure.

Alrighty now!!!! Another animal lover!! Yippeeeee!! I love it so much when I find another animal lover for there are so many of the opposite and we need to out weigh the nonlovers!! I have 10 cats and 3 dogs and couldn't be happier!! Well actually, if I could, I'd have a cat and small dog santuary but money and life's issues is what holds me back. Anyway, Sassy is doing so much better tonight. She even came out of the room and into the living room and got on the couch like she owned it! lol I was so estatic over that one!! She got her name from another mylotter who had her first but had to give her up and couldn't find anybody to take her so I did and I kept it. It was a little hard to keep it because my parents had a chihuahua when I was right young and her name was Sassy too and she got her name because she was so demanding in what she wanted. lol I miss that little dog so darn much but she's in a much better place than I am, no doubt. I'll get to see her some day, God willing.

I am glad to hear that she is better. You caught it just in the nick of time I guess. I hope that she mends well and that you get to relax a bit. I am looking after a sick duck right now and I swear it is just like having a baby all over again. Up in the middle of the night and then all of the day too!

I am so happy that Sassy is doing better and healing nicely. Thats something bright in your life. Our critters are such loving company. I wake up to my cats crawling on me, its like they are saying: come on ma, its time to wake up, we want to eat. The dog just glares at them, she dosen't get on the bed. She does have a pillow right next to the bed though.

She finally got out of the cage and now is up on the kitty window seat sleeping. I guess she needed a change in scenery for a little bit. She wants to go outside but that's a no no for a few more days or even a week. I know what it's like having cats all around you, I wake up to the same thing with having 10 of them around plus three small dogs. They all try to fit on the bed at once without touching each other which doesn't work so some get on and stay and some get on and get off. lol Kind of like, first come first serve type of thing. lol

I missed out on finding out where the abcess was, but I know she needed treated. It is amazing how resilient animals are, though. They will heal up fast. Glad to hear you got her to the vet in time to get help.

Hi GG, it was in her hind leg and it looks like some fur has been pulled off. It could've been a cut of some sort but I don't know because I didn't know she was sick till Sunday night when she screamed and bit me when I touched her. The vet got a dose of her too so he gave her a shot of antibiotics which goes to work right now instead of waiting a few minutes and is probably the reason she bounced back so quick. She still wants to stay in her cage though which is fine by me but I have the door opened slightly so she can make up her own mind in what she wants to do.

maybe also make her cage comfy with blankets and pillows to make her feel comfortable and relaxed as she tries to get back into her life and get used to everything.

Hey good news for a change! Yeah! Sassy girl is going to be ok! I am so happy to hear that! She's going to better soon! It is a good thing that you caught it when you did so that she could get the antibiotic in her so that the infection is now under control! I'm so glad that she is finally feeling better. It will take some time for the area where the abcess is to heal. You will still have to watch her and make sure it stays very clean and she doesn't re-open it or get it dirty again. I used to have to give my cat medicine every day and he hated it! He would make me think he swallowed it, but he would hide an spit it out and I would find it later or days later. I could have sworn he swallowed it, but I would find pills all over the place! He was such a sweet cat! But, he fought like hell when I had to give him his medicine!

Yeah!! One good news anyways!! lol They say when giving an animal medicine a for sure sign that they've swallowed it is when they wipe their noses with their tongue but I've found that to be not so reliable because I've caught them with the pill on the bottom of their mouths just under the lip area. I call them my sneaky little babies for doing that. lol As for Sassy, the wound is healing really well thanks to the medicine and because I've been putting hydrogen proxide on it. She came out of her cage tonight and got on the couch for the first time in three days so that's a GREAT sign that she's on the up and up!!
