I made an appointment for my daughter a month ago to see the eye doctor. At that time I was told 11 am On Nov. 20th. I called my hubby at work and told him the time of the appointment so he could schedule the time off to take her. The office called to confirm yesterday and I was told 11am. We arrives at the eye doctor at quarter to 11 am. We always try and be a few minutes early. When we check in the receptionist tells us she had us down for 9 am. That we would have to wait to be fit in She acted as though we had inconvenienced her! While we were waiting another patient informed us that this sort of thing had happened to her as well. That communication among the doctors staff wasn't the best. We barely made it out of the office for my hubby to be at work on time.

I guess this is happening all over. Last week I set up an interview for Wednesday at 10am. Then my son caught the measles on Tuesday. So I called them to see if there was anyway I could schedule the interview for a later date. At least you were scheduled, even though it was the wrong time. When the woman looked in the appointment book to see where I was scheduled, she couldn't find me. I had not been scheduled at all!!! Argh! What ever happened to common appointment setting skills?

That's quite terrible of the receptionist, and I thought those specialists should manage all these time slots very well. It really makes others very inconvenient. I don't think I've encountered that before. If I had, I'd just tell the receptionist about the truth and how she has troubled me.

I hope you addressed it with the doctor! Most of the time the drs are not aware of what goes on in the front office. I have worked the front desk in an office before and know how hectic it can get. There is no excuse for it though! I have had this happen to me before and it ticked me off also. Especially when they make it sound like YOU were the one at fault! I am sorry this happened to you! If you didnt address it with the doctor, it might be worth mailing him a personal letter!

Yes it has. My mom went for her appointment for 9 and they told her that it wasn't till 10:30 am even though she showed them the card they made up for her appointment last time she was there. But all the lady said was she was sorry and they'd get her in when they could. Well she waited from 8:45 till 11:25 and she went up and asked again how long it will be and again woman said sorry but it wll be a little while longer. But if my mom wanted to leave and come back at a later time since the Doctor would shortly be stopping for lunch that she could..My mom left..she didn't go back..

This is about your kid getting eyeglasses as I just saw in a different post. I had an experience like this myself once upon a time. As far as I could tell, it is easier for the receptionist to pretend it is somehow your misunderstanding than to accept culpability. In this case, with the other patient verifying that the office gets things mixed up, it seems rude and almost insulting for the receptionist to not admit the likelihood that the error is on their part. One of the worst things my child can do is to try to lie or deceive to get out of trouble. I tell her, that makes me feel as if she doesn't respect me and that it hurts my feelings deeply. I hope, sooner or later, that message will stick. (Of course, she might eventually confront me about the whole Santa deception.... argh, double-standards.)

I have to say that I have not this happen to me although what I have had happen to me many times is that I will take my little one in for shots and they would set me up for his next set of shots, so when I call in to verfiy about the appoint I will then be told that my son was never put into the system for the next check-up. But what is strange though is that she will write on an appointment card of when it is. This has heppened to me twice, but I refuse to get a new doctor because our family doctor is really great with my children. Happy Mylotting

Chuck the eye clinic. Or complain to the doctor directly. The staff ought to be taught manners. If you keep quiet, they will continue throwing their weight around.

That would of made me so HOT! and I know what you mean, the great thing about Kaiser is that they send you a reminder ahead of time so if you get there and they want to act like its your fault all you have to do is show them that paper...

Such things happen to me all the time, which is why I detest doctors, doctors receptionists, and doctor's appointments. The reason I use home remedies for most of my ailments is because visiting a doctor is such a pain in the a.s.s. Yes, it happens all the time to everybody. If you take an appointment at 10 a.m., you get to see the doctor at somewhere around 1 p.m. I usually take a novel if I am forced to go. ;) And take an entire day or at least, half a day off work. Cheers and happy mylotting

Something simular happened to me a couple of times. One time I had terrible pain in my eye. I went to the Dr and they said they set me up with the eye specialist on the next day (it was a Sat so I was kinda surprised but went with it). My husband took me to the eye Dr only to find out they are not there on Sat. We sat there for awhile to see if anyone would show up. Nothing. Then we found out the phone number of the Dr and called him. He said he didn't usually go in on Sat but since it was an emergancy he would meet us there. He was real nice about it. It was the other Dr's office fault for telling me my appointment wrong. Another time I went to another Dr and sat there for awhile only for them to tell me I had the appointment wrong. But it was what they had written on my appointment card. The Dr wasn't even there that day so I had to change my appointment after sitting there for awhile waiting for him. I hate Dr offices.

I have never had that happen to me before, but I have shown up at one time thinking that is when my appointment was, but it was actually later. They took me anyway.
