Hey, Mom, Have You Seen My Keys?

Just a few minutes ago, my daughter was running around the house, gathering her books and putting them in her back pack. then she went out to start her car to warm it up before leaving. She came back in, grabbed the back pack and her purse and headed out the door, yelling, "Love ya, Mom. See you later." I yelled back, "Love you, too, have a good day, and be careful out there." The front door opens and closes, then opens again. I hear, "Aaaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhhh!, I can't find my keys! Mom! Have you seen my keys?" I was sitting here, catching up on e-mails. I started to laugh. Mom! I need your help, I can't find my keys! Can you stop laughing long enough to help me find them? I am going to be late! B, your keys are in your car, ya big goof! You just went out and started it 5 minutes ago! Again with the laughter. Oh, yeah. Bye, Mom, see ya later. Now, we've all put our glasses on our head and then wondered where we put them, or had our keys in our hands as we frantically looked for them. What are some other things you have done that make people just look at you and go DUH!?

I am pretty sure that my very PRESENCE makes a lot of people go DUH to be honest! I really don't have to be doing much at all. I have misplaced keys and found them in the veggie crisper, have been wearing my glasses while spending half an hour trying to find them; have worn a shirt inside out for an entire day with three tags sticking out; have walked out of a restaurant toilet into a crowded room with a toilet paper tail hangin' out the back of my trousers; have made sarcastic and derogatory references to a guy I was talking to at a party concerning some very drunk and ugly woman that was carrying on in a hideous fashion and then had him tell me it was his wife..... Goodness me Bo, if I were to list all of 'em I would need a ghost writer!

Tears rolling down her face as she tries to reply Oh,my! The toilet paper tail got me. I have to say, THAT has never happened to me, thank goodness. Toilet paper, a little square, on the bottom of my shoe, but never a tail!

At least your undies were underneath your outer clothes Irish! lol. I spent all day at work and then a function with my tags hangin' out! And Bo..... ANYONE can pull off the single-square-under-the-foot play. jeez! The worse part is pulling the tail OUT in front of many people and hoping to GOD that the entire tail is clean!

Ummm I'm not sure I want to let that be known. When I was in high school I came home to find my Mother frantically searching for her wallet. We went through the usual where do you remember having it last, where did you go when you got home, etc. No wallet! I gave up and opened the fridge to see what there was to snack on, and there on the top shelf was her wallet. She'd bought a few groceries on the way home from work and just shoved everything into the fridge. Fast forward 40 years, my youngest daughter comes home to find me frantically searching for my wallet, opens the fridge and. . .yep, you guessed it, there's my wallet.

*L* I guess it does run in the family. I guess that means that I shouldn't be surprised if I come in and find B's in the fridge, huh?

Sometimes I look for my cell phone when I'm holding it. I have a particular place it belongs in my purse so when I reach for it and it is not there I panic a little. I'm usually in a store when this happens and also holding my wallet or something else that makes me forget I'm holding it. This is not exactly the same but similar..... my son (4 yrs) has gotten into paying for things lately. At Starbucks he wants to place the order and pay for it. I get so caught up in helping him do that and trying to not let it take very long that once it is over and he is putting change in his pocket, I look up and think that I still need to pay. I actually almost paid twice recently because their were two people working the register.... if my son had not whined 'no me, mommy' I bet I would have repayed. Sometimes we just need to slow down a little bit in life, don't we, bo?

I could make a list so long of scatter brained things I have done over the years, it would make up an intire e-book lol But I will tell you the two this week... #1... I was getting the baby a bottle out of the fridge, I got her the bottle and sat down and could not find the remote... I looked all over the room, my hubby looked all over the room. I am telling him over and over, I just had the thing where could it be..hubby starts back tracking my steps and finds the remote sitting on the shelf in the fridge lol...Apparently I had it in my hand when I went to get the bottle. #2... Get home from the store with a bunch of groceries and go to open the door, cant find the keys.... groceries all over the porch, me in a frantic search through the purse..no keys... I am starting to go nuts thinking I had the keys I drove home, there for I had the keys, so I pour the contents of my purse on the porch... no keys...then I start the walk around the yard, maybe I dropped them..go all the way back to the car, to find them hanging in the keyhole of the trunk where I got the groceries out lol.

Oh KM, your mention of babies made me remember this. It's been such a long time ago I forgot. When my second child was a baby we were getting ready to go somewhere. I made sure I had hold of the oldest child's hand, their father picked up the diaper bag, we 3 got in the car and started to back out. The oldest one was about 2, she said "where's sister?". We'd been sure to get everything except the baby!

*LOL* At least you didn't take them out of the key hole and lay them in the trunk, then shut the trunk!

one time I was going to take the SSHSAT at Brooklyn Technical High School. My friend said he couldnt find his ticket. So I laughed at him and i said I had mine and you dont. So when I got to the train stop, I was crying because I found out that I didnt have my ticket. Turned out I put it in my shoe.

That is too funny. I also have a daughter who is forever doing things like that. The stories are endless. In fact, I myself, am known for such things so the apple really doesn't fall far from the tree. It's never a dull moment around here that's for sure. Off the top of my head, I can't for some reason think of a funny story for you. I just got off from a 10 hour shift so I'm tired. Anyway...great story!

HAHA. One day at the grocery store I loaded all my groceries into my trunk. I went and got in my car. Where in the world are my keys? I went and checked with the office in the store, searched up and down all the aisles and at the register. Where were my keys? You guessed it. In the trunk of my car. lol.I've also been known to say where are my keys when i'm holding them in my hands. When I am in a big hurry. My family gets quite the laugh out of me. lol.

I think it is good that we can laugh at ourselves and each other, from time to time. In my case, if I didn't laugh at myself, I would be in a foul mood most of the time*L*

I'm usually pretty smart and with it, but the other day my boyfriend and I were going to go to my storage unit and bring 2 loads of my stuff to my dad's storage place on our farm. (I am trying to clear this one out before the rent is due again so that I can save money.) Well, I was driving his truck and he was going to drive my parent's suv, since I have a car, it made more sense to do it this way..... I had his keys and my keys in my hand and was going out the door. I said what am I doing, I don't need these keys and I laid mine back down. We left, go all of the way to my parent's house and then I realized..... My storage unit keys were on my key chain.... DUH!!!!!! That's why I needed those.....

Keys are something that I always forget where I put them. To solve this problem I always try to put them in the same drawer. So when I need them I just check there first. The problem is when I don't find them there.

Yeah, that would cause a problem. I put things like, phone, keys, purse in the same place every time and still can't find them, sometimes.*L*

Well, they are good for a laugh or two, that is for sure. And the thing is, it is usually so dumb all you can do is laugh at yourself.

Hey bo! That was funny! Yup! Those are things that I have definitely done! But, I have had the glasses on my face and was looking for them! So that is really a big Duh? Lost keys are the usual for everyone. I am always misplacing my glasses. Sometimes I lose my pocketbook! Oh, I can also lose my jacket that I took out to wear and put somewhere. I only have a three room apartment so when I do misplace something it is really pathetic because there are only so many places that I could have put it! But, I still manage to lose an awful lot of things!

You know, most of the time when I misplace something, it is in a very obvious spot, and I probably see it three or four times while looking for it before it actually sinks in that I just saw it. Then I can't remember where it was I "just saw the stupid thing".*L*

hahahaha. she is too young to be as forgetful as that. It never happened to me yet. However my sister was like that, she would come back the house to tell us she forgot her book or her eyeglasses. One time we were so happy she didnt come back. Well, she forgot to zip her skirt up . She was already on the bus on her way to school.:P
