How Do You Make Your Stuffing? Box, Bag, Frozen, or totally from scratch? I use the box stuffing. I use stove top but I saute a little celery and onion in a little butter and add it to the stuffing mix, and I use chicken broth instead of water. How do you make yours?

HI LadyM; My family makes our totally from scratch; We always have, We make ours from the Turkey broth of course; We have a very good recipe that's been passed down from my Grand Mother and its one we've always used; I personally and I know a lot of people buy the stuff but I just cannot "gut" that "stuff" whether its in a bag, frozen or whatever kind of mix, only the real dressing for me ( stuffing) to some of you (G)! It's always been called Dressing in our house..LOL! The richer the broth the better too; I could eat some right now if I had it (G)! LOVE TURKEY & DRESSING!!!! YUMMMYYY!!!!

I usually use Stove Top Chicken Flavor. I LOVE Stove Top. But, at Thanksgiving, we make our own. We have this great spice that our Grammy brought from New York. It sounds a lot like yours actually.

I always make a potato stuffing and so I make it from scratch, it is a recipe that has been in the family for over a century.

I start with boxed stuffing mix, but usually add some other ingredients, like the giblets sauteed with more onion, mushrooms, ect. I don't follow a specific recipe, so it is never exactly the same twice. We do make a very big holiday dinner and enjoy the left overs for several days after. We LIKE leftovers, lolol. Less dishes to do with planning ahead for leftovers.

My wife uses the box kind, I believe the Stove Top brand. I don't see anything wrong with it. I have had stuffing at different restaurants and it pretty much tastes the same, theirs is not better than the stuffing my wife makes on the stove. Plus she makes so much food on Thanksgiving if she needs to take a short cut I don't have a problem with that, and everyone seems to like the stuffing, so I see no reason for her to work harder than she needs to.

My parents used to make it from the box, but I think that is completely stupid. It's much less healthy when it comes pre-packaged. Plus, it simply doesn't taste as authentic. So, the last two years I have made it from scratch. The extra effort is TOTALLY worth it.

I make mine from a box too. I'm not a good enough chef to try and make it from scratch, plus I only eat once a year and who wants to try "something new" at a traditional holiday like Thanksgiving? Not me.
