A research in Texas had discussed that watermelon maybe give an effect as similar as taking Viagra pill. Bhimu Patil from A&M University said that to the news.

I can't believe that. You'd think that someone would have noticed something like that before now! People have been eating watermelon for a long time and no one has made the connection before this? Men eat watermelon all the time and no one has mentioned this before. I would think that at least one of them would be able to see that as being similar to taking a Viagra pill by now! If it's similar, and a man had "problems" in this area but didn't have a problem after eating watermelon, well, a smart man would have turned watermelon into capsules and sold it like Viagra! I have a hard time swallowing this news. I'd have to see the proof for myself. Interesting subject, though!

Now it makes a little more sense! Not many people actually eat the white part because it tends to be sour or bitter. Thanks for that additional information.

Yeah, that's correct, not everyone tend to eat the white part mostly common people like me.I prefer to eat the sweet part,it is more enjoyable.Maybe these researcher might want to seek for kind of organic source in order to replace Viagra, who knows?right? They know better than me.

Right order me a few shiploads of watermelons then and have them delivered! My country is far too cold a climate to grow them here, but I guess I can buy them in the shops, but I am not keen on watermelon to be honest, why couldn't it have been bananas, now bananas I eat loads of because they are energy food for the gym and for training! I wonder how many watermelons you have to get through to get the desired effect, thanks for making me smile, now wheres the watermelon help line LOL!

Here's the article: http://www.webmd.com/erectile-dysfunction/news/20080701/watermelon-a-natural-viagra The researcher doesn't know how much watermelon one would have to eat but another researcher says "Calling watermelon a natural Viagra is "clearly premature," says Roger Clemens, DrPH, adjunct professor of pharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, and a spokesman for the Institute of Food Technologists. "Clemens studied the amino acid arginine himself, researching a supplement to improve vascular flow for patients with hardening of the arteries or atherosclerosis. He has since abandoned that line of research, he says. "It can require a lot of watermelon to boost blood levels of arginine, he adds. In a study published in 2007 in Nutrition, he says, volunteers who drank three 8-ounce glasses of watermelon juice daily for three weeks boosted their arginine levels by 11%."

I think the information in the article is OK. Like all 'popular science' stuff, though, it is angled in a way to make people think that eating watermelon will actually have an effect. Of course, the real information (that nobody really knows but you would probably have to eat it till it came out of your ears) is hidden down at the bottom. I hate this kind of article. It's anti-educational. I like watermelon, though
