How Many Lessons Did You Have? Did You Pass First Time?

If you can drive (and remember having lessons!) how many did it take? I know the number of lessons can vary and circumstances can change things. I would just like to know how other people found learning to drive. Good/bad experiences? Was it all worth it in the end?

I passed my test second time around back in 1989, seems a lifetime ago now, I do remember that I went with a private tutor first and I couldn't get to grips with the car, it was like driving a tank, I failed with him, then I went to a motoring school and passed second time, I got my manual licence but went on to drive automatics because I don't like clutch control or forever changing gears. I had a real bad tutor in the school though that would tut at me if I didn't get it right, he made me nervous and I kept making mistakes, so I complained about him and got a much more patient tutor and it helped a great deal, the car was different too, a smaller car and I had the confidence to pass second time around!

I have had similar experiences. So far I have had 4 different instructors. The last one, I feel, was very much to blame for my failing my test the first time. It is good that you had the confidence to try again and pass. That is what I intend to do!

Well, I took around 20 days lessons for the scooter and around a month's training for the car. I passed the scooter with ease coz I had a scooter to practice with at home. However, the car was a problem. Luckily, they allow our instructors to sit next to us, and my instructor helped me pass. Yet, I can't drive!! :) Cheers and happy mylotting

I guess it is easier if you have something to practice on. My BIL passed first time but he had been driving his dad's car for several years previously!
