Does cold weather make you hungrier? Or is it all in my head? It just seems as the weather changes i want to eat more..could it be the holidays coming?..Am I just crazy? Or is it the brownies?

Brownies for boots? Sounds like a rock band, huh? Okay, I'll let you borrow them boots. But, keep the brownies, I am not a chocolate fan. (Don't faint like Irishfriendly, okay?)

I guess so because I also noticed that I am hungrier than before. I once believe that when its winter your metabolism slows down and you won't feel hungry because of that but in my case and yours its the opposite I guess.

Naughty, naughty...what kind of brownies have you been eating now??? heehee As for eating more..heck I eat all the time year round..I'm a constant nibbler, almost always munching on something...in fact might go into the kitchen and grab a few cookies I got for myself today... My problem I think I'm sleeping more with the weather change...our landlord isn't exactly generous with the heat sometimes and it's turned chilly for this time of year..so when it's time for me to get up, it's like..do I HAVE to??? Also my two kitties that snuggle up to me make it hard for me to move...think they like my new bed a bit too much

I think so,when the weather is cold,I like to eat more, and I think may be our life need more energy to keep warm, and if we eat more it is easy to get weight,it is not a good thing.

I read that in the winter, our bodies demand more food to help keep us warm. It seemed like everyone usully gained weight in the winter, but I thought it was only because a lot of people didn't do their regular exervise routine, because maybe it would require them to be out in the cold. But according to the medical website, our body actually demands more food to insulate us better. If only I could blame my hunger pains for everything I end up eating.

Hi Rosekitty, Oh it must definitely be the chocolate brownies LOL. I find yes I do tend to eat much more in the colder weather. Instead of a sandwich I find myself having hot soup and a roll at lunchtime. I tend to snuggle under a blanket in the lounge and nibble all evening too, not good for the waistline. Last night I opened a box of Roses that were supposed to have been for Christmas so I will have to grab another tin now. I just need chocolate, yum. Huggles. Ellie :D

it does.. its humans wanting to "fatten" up to keep warm for the winter or something from like the stone age or something that still is in our minds now.. that and the holidays haha

Hey Hey ! I am glad I came across the post ! You are not crazy ! Amen I am not the only one . I am alot things in the winter time . I kinda hide away like a bear and eat way too much . Sweets always call to me with a never ending sweet tooth . I seem to bake so much more too in the winters. Summer time is when I am the most happy and always sctive and watching what i eat and i dont crave all the much either . I am trying so hard this winter to be more active and limit all the sweets . At war with food sometimes

Cold weather makes me want CHOCOLATE! And fish'n'chips! I don't think it's in your head at all - when we are cold, we want to be cosy and have comfort food. When it's hot I don't really feel hungry at all, but want to drink cold things all the time. And I can't eat chocolate in summer because I can't stand the feeling of warm, melty stuff.

i think its a natural reaction to putting on more weight for protection from the cold.

Hi Rosekitty! It's Opalkitty here! I always want brownies! And cake and anything chocolate! I just love junk food! And I guess it doesn't help that it's so cold here and boring in the winter. So that's the excuse I'll use for gaining weight this winter! So where's my browines? I can't make them like YOU do! Something's missing in mine?

Our body responds to cold by demanding more fuel for heat - your not crazy, but putting away the brownies might be a good idea....

I think we get hungrier when it's cold. The body wants to store fat and what better way to do so than to make us hungry? Too bad our bodies don't realize that we're not cavemen anymore and we can stop all the defensive eating and fat storing!!

Yes, I always gain some weight this time of year. I work outside in the weather and in the barn with my animals most of the time, so I feel I NEED the extra insulation to cope with the cold. Pretty sure it is all animal life that does this naturally. A little extra layer of fat insulates us from the cold. I remember one year, that I got self-conscious of my weight gain, so I tried and succeeded in keeping slim for winter. But I was sick all winter, colds and flu regularly. I attributed it to being too slim, not skinny mind you, as I have never been skinny. Just what the doctors say is my ideal weight. I think that is bogus anyway. I feel the little extra 10 - 15 lbs gives me more weight to throw around when handling the sheep, too.

Oh, but the brownies, mixed with some 'happy grass' will also give you the munchies, for sure, too. But they are soooooo goood!

Brownies? Brownies? Where? You are crazy but, that is why we all love ya so much. I think it is instinct to eat more in the winter, for some of us, anyway. Gotta build up the fat supply to keep warm and keep us going through the winter months. Brownies? Where? I need a few more of those!

Yes!Cold weather makes me eat more.I prefer a hot milk or a meal served hot.If not possible,I eat biscuits or some snacks.I think we are trying to make our body warm by eating more at that time.I have also observed my diet increasing by that time. But I just cant explain why!
