Do you know any "Big Shots"? That's what me and my family call people who try to show their "money" and things they own, when they're secretly poor. I notice around this time, Christmas and stuff, people do this. They give out big gifts, throw parties, and then go into debt.
I knew a woman like this. She's throw parties at work for everything. With favors, food, cake, ect. Gave everyone she worked with 50-100 dollar Christmas gifts, gave her coworkers Christmas gifts, always had to habe a new outfit on. She got herself into debt twice. The first time, she sold her house and had made enough to buy a different home. Then about 10 or so years later, she got into debt lost her home and moved out of town to save face.
Do you know anyone like this? Why do you think they do it?

Crazy that people do things like this. I mean why show off what you don't have?
I don't know people like this in person, but do know that people like this exist who do such things, just hoping to make everyone happy and to attain some sort of a "status symbol". All they end up doing is messing up their finances and life in the bargain.
