What is your favourite food and why?

Australia

As an Australian I live in a very much multicultural society. Here you can basically get any type of food that you might like to try because Australia is basically a migrant country. I love all different types of food. Realistically speaking you could just say I like food in general My favorite would have to be Asian food (either Chinese or Japanese) I just love the flavor. I learned my love of Chinese food as a teenager when I legal guardian sponsored a refugee family who arrived in Australia after being stuck in Malaysia's refugee camps for over six months. The family expressed it's gratitude for my guardian's help by having regular 'banquets' for us. They taught me how to eat with chopsticks to the point where I became so competent that other Asians are surprised at how well I use them (until I explain that I was taught by Asians). Probably the only type of international food I don't like is extra hot curries... you know, the type that sears your tastebuds so badly with the first mouthful that you can taste nothing but heat after it? So I don't like Sri Lankan food. But I like most Indian food because it's a lot milder. So what is your favorite food? How did it become your favorite food? Through a takeout joint or through a friend?

Yeah, and dumplings are quite easy too. It's funny how our diets change over the years. I remember several years ago a friend of mine had a Japanese exchange student staying with her. I treated the girl by preparing some Japanese dishes (including sushi) and was surprised to discover that sushi is a dish that is rarely eaten in Japan except on special occasions (I guess because fish is expensive to buy).

by curd do you mean soybean curd (i.e. tofu)? I'm not really keen on tofu myself. Don't particularly like the texture or taste... but I suppose with some kind of curry sauce it would be okay.

Nothing like thinking about food to make you hungry. I work as a check out operator in a grocery store and when I'm due for a break and someone comes through with a hot roast chicken my mouth can really start watering LOL

I once visited the US and ate at a Mongolian restaurant there. That was interesting, especially since I paid for my lunch and was handed a bowl to take over to the food bar where I chose all the raw ingredients for my meal before handing it over to be cooked... turned out really nice.

Oh that's really cool, I never knew Australia was so multi-cultural. I'd love to live there someday. I'd have to say Thai food is probably my favorite cuisine. Not the super spicy stuff though.

Yeah, have tried Thai food before. Some of it is a little too spicy for my tastes too. Same with Vietnamese food, they seem to like chilli peppers but most of it is fine.

Sounds like someone has a sweet tooth. I must admit to being a little partial to pasta with cream sauces myself (carbonara, alfredo etc) I used to go shopping with one of my friends when I lived in another state and whenever we were out we would have morning or afternoon tea and buy a yummy chocolate eclair and a latte... mmmm, yummy!!

My favorite food would have to be our food, Filipino cuisines, ( if you try it you might like it too!) I love our "adobo" chicken its like chicken cooked with soy sauce, laurel leaves, a bit of vinegar, bit of salt and some spices.. i also love our Bicol Express, my husband showed me how to cook it because here in the Philippines we have different ethnicities and each has different kinds of foods!!!

I have tried it once, and certainly did enjoy it. In general I love to try pretty much anything... as long as it doesn't have eyes and look at me from my plate!
