Christmas with Halloween movies. Caspers Haunted Christmas. Nightmare Before Christmas, Jack Frost (Attack of the mutant killer snowman.)The list goes on. What do you think is the reason for it? Some of them are cute, some are not...but it all seems to follow a theme.

My niece called me earlier today and she was watching that Casper one. I have never seen any of the ones you have just mentioned before, but I have heard of them. I never really thought of it before. You don't see kids in Halloween movies running around signing Christmas carols and dressing up like Santa.

It's not really a mix of Hallowe'en and Christmas, though they are close together. It's more a desire to produce films which break the mould of the "Disney family everybody's happy" movies we get so much of at Christmas time. I guess you could trace the trend all the way back to Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol', which - after all - had Scrooge, ghosts and all sorts of horrid stuff in it. Personally, I see it as cashing in on the fact that a LOT of people loathe the false smiles, false 'togetherness' and all the other false things that our now-commercialised Christmases bring.

I think my little sister just watched Casper's Haunted Christmas the other day. It was cute. it was animated. I think that because gruesome sells good on Halloween they figure those people would love to watch it on Christmas and with Christmas themes. I know my sister in law buys it all up she likes that sort of thing. Me I am a comedy type. Something that makes me laugh not scream in horror.

i think its just a much needed twist because everything else has been done already.
