Has Anyone Been To New York To See The Macy's Thanksgiving Parade?

At my house, it is always a tradition to to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. The rockettes being my favorite! I've alwasy wanted to go to New York on Thanksgiving Day and see the parade.
I was wondering if any mylotters have seen the parade in person? Also is the trip worth it?

I've never been and I grew up so close to it.
My mother actually just asked me to go with her tomorrow, but with the crowds, the terror threat on the public transportation, and the attack that just happened in India, I don't feel up to going.
