Weird goings on.

While I was offline this afternoon, Yahoo dumped over 300 old emails in my Inbox. They date from the 19th to the 27th of September and some of them I have seen and some not. I'm amazed to see there were so many emails for one day because these days I only see about 20 email alerts a day. It seems less and less people are posting new discussions these days. In the meantime, I think it might be time to switch my email for myLot. I know I have missed many email alerts for friends discussions so maybe it is Yahoo I should be blaming and not myLot???? We'll see what happens. Yesterday I responded to a post for someone asking about Yahoo and g.mail and they said they were switching for a reason I cannot recall now. Have you noticed anything yourself if you are a Yahoo user?

I have never really had that problem with Yahoo!..Thankfully knock on wood..I am sorry to here that you are having these problems and hope that they can be resolved. Have you thought someone could have hacked your mail? Well, I just hope things go well.

Someone hacked into my email account and changed my password. Besides that I didn't see anything wrong with my account. But the password change.

I have used Yahoo email for years and so far have never had any problems with it. Any time I do not received email notifications or get them all at once in a large amount it has always been a myLot glitch.

How do you know for sure it was a myLot glitch? I also blamed myLot, and more recently Hotmail but it seems the problem may be with Yahoo itself. This bulk amount of mail was received in a 3 hour period and at least some of them were mails I had read and deleted back when they first arrived. How Yahoo are able to deliver them to me again I simply don't know. It was not only email alerts from myLot...there was mail from other sources as well.

You asked if anyone had these problems and I only was referring to my own experience with Yahoo. I do not know what is your problem with the email.

I have had similar problems with yahoo mail recently. Some of my emails come through instantly while others have taken hours, days or even weeks to appear. It is weird but I am hoping it is just a temp fault or I may have to change my email.

Hi and welcome to myLot. . I hope it's a temporary fault too. It seems to have been happening only since the latest upgrade. Its a bit of a pain and I hope it is remedied soon.

Wow! That's a heck of a lot of emails! I used to get close to this amount daily throughout my numerous work addresses but thankfully spam filters helped put a stop to it. It was frustrating really to get to work each morning and have to sort through them all so I am obviously glad that is over! As for mylot notifications, I had them on for the first couple of weeks when I first joined mylot some years ago and ended up switching all notifications off very quickly. Now this was back when there where less than 20,000 members and I had less than 30 friends so I don;t even wish to think what it would be like for me now if I had notifications on! I am not sure why Yahoo would dump such a back-log on you like this either because it has certainly never happened to me before.....

The thing is that the ones I had read and answered were deleted and gone supposedly...where did Yahoo dig them up from....when we delete stuff....what happens to it if it isn't actually deleted?...that's a bit of a worry.

I will tell you when my grandmother passed away, she had yahoo mail and I did as well. Well about 6 months after she passed away I recieved an e-mail from her! Talk about freaking someone out. I was not aware they had internet in heaven. :-)

Oh dear...that's spooky. That would have given me the willies. Sorry about your grandmother's passing...maybe she did it as a way to say "g'day everything's fine here"

Wow marcia! Sorry to butt in here but that is an amazing story! I can see how it would have freaked you out for sure; but in a way it is also intriguing and was like a trigger from her to let you know she is there for you no matter what, or something like that.

I havn't got all my alerts turned on because I don't want my email bombarded, I get enough emails from other survey companies and friends etc and it gets a bit much at times... So I havn't really had any trouble with emails from mylot. wow 300 You must have been extra busy and trying to sort through them that would have taken a long time.... I would like to try and respond to all my friends discussions but it's hard to.. I like to just go to "friends started" discusions and try my luck on as many as I can

Hi pinklilly, nice to see you. I've only got some alerts turned on...well, most actually, but I've noticed for some time now that I don't get alerted to some of my friends discussions. I blamed myLot but now I'm thinking it might be Yahoo perhaps?

I've used Yahoo since I got my first computer, and have always kept the same address. Can't remember ever getting anything deleted like that, and some of the stuff I keep is several years old, of which some is in folders, and some is in my inbox. It almost sounds like some one got into your email account and had a little 'fun'. Just in case, have you changed your password lately? It's a bit scarey, and certainly an invasion of privacy to have anything deleted for any reason without your knowledge.

Um, there was nothing deleted....a whole bundle of old mail was dumped in my Inbox, not deleted at all. You must be answering the wrong discussion. Read my discussion...at the top of this page, again. Have a happy time.

LOL...when you said Yahoo dumped 300 emails, I assumed that they were deleted. When I dump things, I've thrown them away. Sorry.

I am a yahoo user, but I don't use yahoo as mylot alert. I use gmail. I think there are too many junk mail in yahoo, like mails with adult contents...I don't know where they are coming from and why they send me those email, I have to clean those mail every day... Gmail is better, not so many junk mail.

I get junk mail in all my email accounts. I don't think there is any way to avoid it. I just make sure that anything that comes to my in box that shouldn't be there is marked as SPAM. I rarely get junk in my inbox...it all automatically goes to my trash box.

It's definately a problem with Yahoo. There have been a few times lately when Yahoo has refused to let me get to my e-mails with no explanation. It also decides to shut down halfway through me checking e-mails. Since it's been up for sale I don't think it's been updated or regulated as it should be.

What I did notice was that I was getting two emails each from the same sender on the same topic...that was weird, but ti seems ot have stopped now. I do hope your yahoo mailbox has also stopped that as well and you were able to get rid of all those emails.
