If you leave them, who do you get to take care of them?

It usually depends upon the destination but most of the time, I leave them at home and ask a trusted neighbor to attend to their needs (food, water, etc.)

oooh, your question is just the outstanding reason that i can't afford to have a dog right now. I'm an oversea student in the Uk and I'm dying to have a dog so much. But I always go back to my country every summer or christmas holiday and I have no friends who are willing to take care them. So having a dog is just my dream T_T

If I am going on a short trip of a few days, I leave the dogs at home. I have a friend who comes to my house several times a day and takes care of them. If I am going away for a long time, such as camping for two weeks, I will take the dogs with me. It is good for them to get some fresh air and exercise in a different enviornment. It does upset their schedule but after a few days, they settle in to doing new things. They get so excited about meeting people and seeing new things. They are like little kids. If I am going away for a long period of time to a destination that I can not take the dogs, then I have another friend who comes and lives at the house while I am gone. This helps the dogs to have a constant companion. Yes, my dogs are spoiled.

My mom has two yorkies and she brings them with her when she visits me. Plus I like to see them because then it's a little piece of home that is brought to my home/school! If my mom doesn't bring them she normally has a family member watch the dogs. If the families members are going on the trip as well then she usually one our friends to watch the pups :)

Yorkies are so cute..I'd want to see them too. They're small enough to travel comfortably with too.

one time when our family went out of town we brought our dog along because no one can take care of him. it was a 3-hour drive but it was his first time to travel so i think it was stressful for him. when we got to the place he enjoyed it because there was another dog there. but now that we have 3 dogs, and if we go out on long trips, i really can't imagine what is our set up as my parents get worried sick if we'll leave them alone. :)

well i stay in india and its very difficult here to travel with your dog unless you are travelling by car..... so people here normally prefer to keep their pets in kennels for their vacation time..... but i personally dont like doing that i try my level best to take the dog along with me but incase if its just not possible then i weigh the possiblities of my travel whether it is important for me to go or not and incase it is direly important for me to go then i prefer leaving the dogs with some friend of mine who can take care of them for a couple of days rather than a kennel who might misuse them
