Windows 98 is one of oldest operating system. After that many os like windows xp, windows 2003, vista etc.. have come. Any of you still use Windows 98? A friend of mine still uses windows xp. He use to tell me that the number "98" in windows 98 stands for the number of time it hangs in 1 hour. lol. And if you still use windows xp, what exactly the reason why you are using it?

Actually I have partioned my hard disk memory and I have both XP and windows 98. Can work in either of the two. But I hardly use windows 98 these days. Feel more comfortable working with XP. So I am not using windows 98 these days Cheers

wow windows 98..thats just so long ago. I know i used it but I can barely even remember what its like. I have Vista on my laptop and XP on my desktop; those are the only two I really use. Vista sort of grew on me but overall I do prefer XP though; Vista has its annoying hang ups and always asking me if I really want to open something lol.

Actually I have worked on a version called win 3.0 but it was a long time ago. Since then I have also used Windows 95/98/XP but my current system is XP. The main reason I didn't upgrade to Vista is because there were alot of complaints about it and there were numerous warnings that some software would not work with Vista. Since I have spent alot of money for the software I use regularly, I didn't want to lose them just because the operating system wouldn't work with it.

I am not actively using Windows 98 but it is still there in an old PC which is still working. Ever used or seen Windows 1.0? The interface was bad and not long after that Windows 3.0 was released. This was followed by Windows 3.1 and 3.11(network capable). I used all three of them because the places I worked at had them. Windows 95(a, b, and c), and Windows 98SE followed in succession. This was used longer compared to the other versions before an upgrade to Windows ME was made. My current OS on my PC is XP. I have not upgraded to Vista due to hardware requirements and compatibility issues.

Hello. I am using Windows XP. I do it because I didn't buy Vista yet, and I don't plan on buying it so soon. If somebody gives me, then I will install it and use it. Now, there are people who still use Windows 98. If I am not mistaken, 98 is because the year it was released. Before it, there was Windows 95 (I was three years old by then). And there is one more before it, if I'm not mistaken. There is also Windows ME (Millennium). Respectfully, Munhozmib.

i like to used with windows 98se... i hear from the news that windows 98 has a new version... the windows 98upgrade but i think the microsoft didnt fund that coz many uses and shift to xp in that time.... thats why 98se or any other version are been phase out due to xp popularity... but if i where ask by microsoft well i will request to bring back the classic os to life.... after all 98 is one leading operating system before the xp birth... i find first xp version and vista version are prone to virus...but the upgrade of xp or latest version of it are upgraded to it full security... i dont know if vista has its new version... i know vista will make xp phase out too....

I would use XP because it is amazing. It really isn't old. Anyhow, Vista is Windows NT 6.0. XP is NT 5.0. Before that, you had the NT kernel series for business, which is what XP and Vista are based on, and the home '9x' series which have DOS underpinnings - 95, 98, ME, eg all the worst ones. 2000 was NT, i think 4.5... I have used back to Windows 2.0, before the NT/9x split.

I currently use Vista right now, because I "need" my laptop for my college stuff. I did own a laptop of my own, but my dad wanted a laptop for himself too. So here's how the deal went: if I give my used laptop (windows XP) to my dad, he'll buy me a new laptop. I was like.. okay! lol. So my dad bought me a new laptop, which comes with Vista, and really that's the first time when I started to use Vista. Guess What? I HATE it!!!!!! Laptop works fine, but laptop is really crappy with Vista in it. I'm pretty sure it will work so much better if I put my "own version" of XP in it, but I failed -_-.. And no, I don't use windows 98, and YES, I hope Microsoft will revive the support for windows 98 SE, and they SHOULD!!! .. XP is pretty stable right now, but I still miss the old days of windows 98 (and 95)

I use Windows XP with service pack 3. I was previously using windows 98, but as you said i was tired of restarting the system oncee in a while it hangs up. Then i changed my operating system to Windows XP. Though i have used windows 2003, windows XP is easy to use and understand.

Ya, I'm still using Windows 98 at work. My company is using a very old program and it's only compatible with Windows 98. Luckily, I have 2 PCs at work. One for using that program and another is for surfing! The other one is using Windows XP.

I'm still using windows xp home edition and I like this Operating System a lot! I haven't graduated to using Vista yet but that is in the pipeline! I don't know if there is anyone still using windows 98 but it's a real problem as Microsoft doesn't support the old Operating Systems anymore! However, if you are into computer maintenance as I am then it's not a problem as you can maintain and do everything yourself. It just takes a bit of reading and study! I really looking forward to upgrading to vista and then windows 7, when that eventually comes out! Andrew

I am using XP because my poor old 'puter really doesn't have the innards for a bigger operating system. Anyway it will do me for now.
