Skipped Black Friday Shopping

I had planned to go black Friday shopping to buy a blu ray player for my husband for Christmas. Unfortunatly plans changed and I had to skip the shopping. I ended up having to spend that money on glasses instead. I have a scratch on my cornea and a horrible eye infection which was caused by my contacts, so now I'm no longer allowed to wear them very often. I still had to do my grocery shopping Friday, so I was able to get a few gifts for the kids at a great price. But I will no longer be attempting to get a blu ray player. Hubby actually intends to buy one through work, which will be much cheaper anyways. So back to the drawing board for him. Part of me is glad I missed the early morning shopping. I really wasn't up for it after the couple days I'd had before that. Did you go black Friday shopping? Did you enjoy it?

I am sorry to hear about your eye. That is one thing I will never do is put contacts in my eyes. I am just too chicken to do it. I would rather wear glasses myself. I hope your eye gets better soon. As for the Black Friday sales I really don't think you missed that much. I went to Kohl's and it was not even worth it for me. I ended up getting a lamp, a sheet set, and 1 toy and waited in line for over 2 hours to check out. One thing, I don't think I will waste my time at Kohl's next year. Have a nice day and happy myLotting!!!

What's Black Friday? I've never heard that term before. It sounds pretty grim!

Boxing Day, or the 27th, is the day that most of the post Christmas sales start in the UK. I don't think it's as big as 'Black Friday' though. My Mum told me that the police were called to last year's Marks and Spencers sale though! Madness! Here in Portugal, there's not the same commercialism. Certainly where I am, I'm not expecting to see any post Christmas sales at all.

It's actually rather exciting. It's the day after our Thanksgiving, and the biggest shopping day of the whole year. Everything goes on sale, I mean everything. I've heard it's similar to Boxing Day... not sure if your country does that, I know Canada does.

I wondered when you said you had scratches on your eye if you wore contacts. I had my eye doctor yell at me once about wearing my contacts all the time. When he was checking my eyes he said my eyes were scratched. I did not go anywhere near the stores on Friday until about 8 pm and the only reason I went then is because I was out of milk, eggs, and soda.

I stopped wearing contacts a few years ago. I wear my glasses all the time now. It gets a little annoying sometimes, but my eyes feel so much better.

Apparently I've had these scratches for awhile, and they got infected very badly. It's clearing up quickly with the medicine I was given. I did wear my contacts around the clock, I know it's a big no no, but I have no glasses, and right now can't even afford a pack of contacts, so the one I'm wearing in my good eye is the only one I have. The one I was wearing in my bad eye was thrown out because of the infection. But now I'll have the glasses and when I buy new contacts I'll only wear them when I'm going out.

No Black Friday shopping for me either, but that is because I am in UK and could not catch a flight in time hee hee! I am sorry that you could not get what you wanted for your hubby, it always happens when a plan is made something comes along and spoils it. Story of my life that is ! You will have to get your thinking cap on and think of something else do you have any other ideas? Hope your eye is better now too.

My eye is healing well. I have a few small ideas, I hope that will be enough. Since we have to go over budget for our kids, we are deciding not to spend much on each other, which is a good plan I think. So I only have a few more things to pick up for him luckily.

Hi! I'm not from the US that's why I'm curious what this Black Friday Shopping is? I learned from the news that prices are going down to increase the store's sales but what does Black Friday actually mean? I hope you can enlighten me on this! =)

I attempted to find deals online but didn't find anything. I ended up getting a 10 pack of matchbox cars for $5 and a DVD for $13. And that's it. No, I didn't enjoy it. I think I would have had more fun in the crowds at the stores. That may have been easier to find the deals.

I got quite a few nice things for the kids. A 2 ft stuffed Mickey for $10 and a book with a magna doodle for my toddler, a Pixar Cars Mack carrier for $10 for my son, and a winter coat for my oldest for $8.

I am sorry to hear about your eye and hope that you will be okay. That is good that your husband will still get the blue ray player through his company and at a lower cost. I stay away from Black Friday shopping as you get massive amounts of people all lined up and stampeding to get in the stores and in lines. It is not safe in some places to go on Black Friday. Traffic is bad and lines are bad and too crowded. I went shopping this morning at a local mall and it was very pleasant and not mobbed either. Last year, I went on Black Friday and drove around for an hour and half for parking so I decided to not go this time.

No, I only did my shopping online and got pretty good deals without having to deal with crowds and traffic. I try to avoid that whenever I can.

That sounds terrible! I'm supposed to wear glasses but I really dont and I'm glad I don't wear contacts. I think they're too much trouble in my opinion. It is terrible that you missed shopping but if your husband can get a blu ray for cheaper then I'd be all for it. We ended up going. I didn't hate it, and didn't really like it as I was able to get the things that I needed and the crowds weren't so terrible this year so at least that was a plus.

Sorry to hear about your eye. No I didn't go shopping on Black Friday. I tend to avoid it all together. It is more peaceful that way. Have done most of my shopping online.

I went to the mall yesterday, but I didn't get a good sale there. I just ate Chinese food with my friend and walked around for about six hours straight with some short breaks. It was really fun to see the huge crowds of people, but there was just nothing I needed to buy! I did all my holiday shopping on eBay, it's not too late for that!
