Who else is feed-up with Yahoo mail?

On Friday I went to check my email at yahoo. There was more than 5,000 e-mails in my inbox and about the same in my spam box. Now when I started to read some of them I found that the ones in my inbox are spam also. This e-mail box was to be used by my friends and family only , as they are the only ones who have been given this email address. So I canceled that email and opened up a new one. Today I went to send the new e-mail address to my daughter and what did I find...almost 2,000 spam e-mails in my in-box and even more in my spam. Now this is an e-mail that no one has so why am I getting all this mail? I asked Yahoo and received an answer within a few hours. Yahoo does sell these addresses to companies or to other people and if I don't want to get e-mails from them I will have to pay for a private e-mail box. Boy have times changed, when I got my firstYahoo email box years ago I did not get more than 3 spam e-mails a week. I guess I will be dropping Yahoo and using G-mail from now on.I was wondering if you have an email box at Yahoo...is your e-mail box always full of spam? Do you think they sell our home addresses and phone numbers too? I forgot to ask that.If so don't you think we deserve to get some of the money they are making, after all we are the ones who have to spend time deleting all this crap. Aren't you about feed-up with Yahoo and all the spam they deliver to your e-mail box?

I have my business website through them....last week I checked the spam and it's all nasty stuff.....sent to my website mailing address.....and that is not supposed to happen. If it continues I'll have to change my website to someplace else. I don't like that kind of crap in my mailbox!

I've had problems lately with my mail not wanting to load. It's been happening since Thursday. I was thinking maybe due to a lot of traffic on the site beings so many were off work. This has happened once before & lasted several days in a row that time too.

oh yeah. I've had my yahoo email since high school and recently I have been bombarded with spam emails. I even tried to use that spam filter they have but it doesn't work at all! I would get more spam emails then email I was actually waiting to get. I swtiched to gmail and it's awesome. No spam at all!

I also use the Yahoo email, fortunatly i did not meet the same questions as KOWGIRL.Yahoo almost can distinguish the useful email with the spam email. When i open the email Box, i just read the Receiving box and ignore the Spam email.Except the yahoo email, i also have Gmail and 163 email.

I have noticed a lot more spam mail than usual in Yahoo recently that should have gone right to spam and it doesn't this is wrong for them to offer free yahoo mail and then black mail us into paying as I cannot afford to do this and I use Yahoo a lot. It has not got too bad but it is annoying getting spam when it should not be there. I don't think they are supposed to sell our information not according to my states consumer affairs. It is illegal. They can get in trouble for this as they have not informed email box users if this is a new policy. G-Mail does the same thing and I get a lot more spam there than from yahoo.

I have been fed up with all the spam that I was getting to all four of my yahoo e-mails, that is why I switched to gmail a long time ago. I thought that I had signed up to way too many unscrupulous sites, and that was the reason I was getting all the spam. I didn't know that yahoo was making a killing off of selling our e-mail address to the spam folks! I am glad that I no longer truly use my yahoo e-mails. The only thing I do use the one address for is my messenger; at least until they find a way to spam that lol.

Wow..you're the second person I've heard complain about getting tons of emails...not just spam either, but others out of the blue. So far I've not had this problem..Let me ask you..do you have a "free" account there? You see, I don't..I have a paid one and I haven't had this problem..so maybe when one has a paid account of Yahoo, the spam blocker is better ...it's only $19.95 a year..so not bad. As far as the number of spam email..in my spam folder usually about 60 or so a day...I do go through it though since every once in awhile I get a legitimate one somehow going in there..LOL..I would LOVE to get paid just for going through the spam mail

I used to use Yahoo, but now I use Gmail. I just find Gmail to be a lot more user friendly. As far as spam goes, I don't really remember there being much of a difference in spam between my Yahoo and Gmail accounts, but then again I give my e-mail address out a lot so I do get a lot of spam. But hopefully you'll be very happy with Gmail! I know I am!

I stoped using them for the same reason - also, even though my inbox was not full, I got problems in receiving / opening new ones. So now, I'm using gmail - pretty good by now.

Hi Kowgirl, Your experience sounds terrible! I use to get spam mail in my old Yahoo accounts, but after making a new one, all those problems went away. I find it really surprising Yahoo advised you to pay for a private email. How unhelpful of them! Gmail will be a good switch. It takes a while to get use to because some of the options are different from Yahoo's, but for free email, it lets the user do so much. My favorite is how they don't charge users for POP3 access...unlike Yahoo. Hmph. Good luck with your email woes!

spam!!! - Though I can't remember ever eating the stuff, I deffinetly have a folder for it!
Hello Knowgirl, I have an Yahoo account and am actually quite happy with it. Yes, I get Spam, in my spam folder, and tons of stuff in my in-box that I don't want, but that's because I have gone to different sites, then changed my mind. the Spam in my inbox is my doing and I really don't pay attention to the Spam in my Spam folder...I'm glad Yahoo intercepts it and puts it there. Happy MyLotting!

GMail has more spam mails.. Yahoo is stricter with spams. At least that's based on my experience.. How frequent do you open your mail, I'm just wondering. I don't get more than 5 spam in my yahoo mail each day. Well, I guess that's the glitches of free mail:)
