I debated on whether to put this in the movies or the politics interest and decided on the latter since it's a very political movie about war profiteering that I think contains more truth than many people may realize despite the hilarious satire. http://www.democracynow.org/2008/5/23/war_inc_john_cusacks_new_film Has anyone else here seen it? It recently came out on DVD and I watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Any thoughts? Annie

I saw it when it came out -- one of the few movies I dashed to see. I liked it alot! It was meant to be something of a humorous slant taking pokes at our reality. War-profiteering. Considering that John Cusack gets involved in actual causes, and bothers to think about things like this (unlike alot of celebrities, we guess), I suppose it's not surprising that it was pretty good. It's sad not too many people watched it, it was only released to so many theatres, I heard =o

I waited for it to come out and it never played anywhere near me so that's why I jsut got to see it about a week or so ago when it finally came out on DVD. John Cusack is someone I not only like a lot as an actor but I really respect him because he literally puts his money where his mouth is and when he does talk about politics (which you know so many can't stand when celebrities do so!) he knows what he's talking about. I really do recommend it, Lil. I guess it's not a movie everybody would "get" but you're very intelligent and informed so I know you'll like it. There's one scene with Dan Ackroyd as the former V.P. on webcam sitting on the toilet. He's the head of a company that's been contracted to do the rebuilding in this fictional country we've just been at war with and he said if he was still the V.P. that would be a definite conflict of interest. The war is supposedly "over" but there are still bombs going off all over the place. It's hard to describe but it's funny and worth watching. Annie

I don't think I have even heard of it. Which surprises me since my husband is so political and everything lol Guess I'll have to see if I can find a copy of it to watch and let you know.

It got very little publicity and some of the mainstream critics panned it. I probably wouldn't have ever heard of it either if it weren't for our buddy Keith Olbermann! He had John Cusack on his show months ago, before the movie was even released, and they talked about the similarities between the movie and the realities in Iraq. It seems that for some strange reason the movies that have been made that make a statement about our government tend to disappear. Someone doesn't want us to see them, apparently! Annie
