You could always put your name on the do not call list (if they have it where you are). We have caller ID and I personally do not answer the phone if I don't recognize the number. Some of them are really pushy and rude. I try to be polite with them since after all they are only a person doing their job. It may be an annoying job, but they have to earn a living too. I try not to hang up and just say "no thanks", but if they are rude or pushy then I will hang up.

Meaning if some one is asking for donations they can still call, or people asking to do surveys can still call, but people that are trying to sell you some thing can not call. i hate telemarketers, those r the only people who call me! i never answer my phone when i see a telemarketer on the caller id. i put my number on the national do not call list, but they still call! i guess that didn't work!

LOL I'm one of those. I'm not the primary subscriber at home with the phone co., and rarely get personal calls, so, unless I'm the one calling, it's rare for me to be found holding the phone. We've got caller ID, and if it displays "unknown caller" or a strange number, we leave it ringing. There've been just a lot of those lately.
