I got thinking after reading an article about car horns being useless (http://www.slate.com/id/2204988/?GT1=38001 - link to the article not a referral link) about how often i do or don't use my car horn. The article said that theres several places that have banned honking down town and honking can get you a ticket in many places. I thought it was pretty interesting. I don't drive in the city so i rarely use it in anger. And the only times i can recall in recent memory that I've used my horn are: 1) chasing the cows home i honked to keep them moving. 2) honking at a deer in the ditch 3) honking at my stupid dog when it decided to run out in front of my car when i got home. Do you honk your horn? Why? How often?

I have friends and family that as they leave my moms they drive by my house and honk as they go past. I like it when my mom does because then i know they're back and not to worry about an accident or something.

Horns? I recently had an accident and now have a Toyota rental till my big Buick is repaired. Anyhow the hormn on this Toyota sounds like a bicycle horn that goes "toot toot" in a high pitched tone. Not a horn that I could hear myself driving near this car. I hate thios low sounding shrill toy horn on this rental Toyota. Nowq my Buick has a loud deep toned horn that can be heard easily. I use it only when needed as a warning to other drivers or pedistrians etc. I don't use it to let someone know I am at their house etc. I will get out and go to their door before honking. That would disturb me hearing someone honk just to wait for a friend etc to come to the car so I don't do that. I don't honk at animals even in my path as they will usually run towards the noise most times being attracted to it I feel. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

It bugs me to hear someone honk rather than going in to get a friend. I've had strangers sit and do that in my yard when my dad had his blazer for sale out front. I usually dont pay attention to honking outside because its usually an animal on the road or cows...and the guy that did it was mad at me for "taking so long to see what he wanted" I admit i was a bit rude when i said I'd have known he wanted something if he came and knocked rather than parking on the other side of the yard and honking.
